The Old Folks Home

Alaskan, I've been to the top of Enchanted Rock. Lovely views but it was a hot climb. My folks live in Kingsland, TX.
Look there! Llano county no less!

The family reunion I went to today was in Castell. The store in Castell is run by distant cousins.

Not really..... Grands were so ticked when I called them last time, that I told spouse to handle it....spouse refused to handle it.

Sigh

Sitter said there looks to be enough feed in my giant trashcan feeder to use that for all animals until spouse is in town Saturday to unlock the car.

Bunch of crazy.

:he That's infuriating!!! They do know that you'll be taking care of them in a few years right? :duc
I hope you guys can make some great memories, despite the heat & your screwy inlaws.

That is sad (the bugs..... and thanks for the sympathy in regards to the in-laws).... but you do know that DE won't really knock them out? Right?

If you have a bad infestation, use something toxic.

DE seems to be the topic of all my threads today. I've had really good luck with it in the past as long as it stays dry. My birds are all free range. What do you use that kills bugs, but not birds?

I use Sevin Dust. Dust chickens, roosts especially near the ground, and any coop wood near the ground. Repeat in 10 days, then repeat again in another 10 days. It gets mites, lice, and most other things.

Thanks! I'm willing to try anything. Does anyone else here dust their birds with a flour sifter? It works great, but I'm pretty sure the neighbors think I've completely lost it.

@Alaskan Never been in Castell, but went to grade school in Llano for about a year and a half back in the 60s. My Dad retired from the military and moved back in the mid 70s. My brothers both graduated from Llano High School.
I like to visit but it's too hot and dry for a permanent residence!

For really bad mite infestations, Spinosad is the current gold standard. It really knocks out the bugs.
