The Old Folks Home

I showed my husband the pic from the parade, wickedchicken6. He immediately Said 55 Olds.

How do men do that?:th
They like cars? Although I've noticed there are several ladies who know their cars on here too.:thumbsup

Lol...he is correct. It's originally from the US. I need to write it down but I want to say it's an Olds Holiday 88 with 364 324. It sounds awesome...a deep, growling exhaust.

Couldn't believe the boy wanted that car and I initially balked at him spending that dough on that car. But he's got a good head on his shoulders, he worked for the money...so he bought it. Not your typical 16 year old's type of car but like he says...it's an investment. My sister/family assess antique vehicles and they've valued it at more than he paid just from the pics.

The people who owned it were beyond sweet and I think they let him have it at such a good deal knowing it was going to a good home. He did all the emailing and discussion on it. DH went to help with the actual finalization. I met them at pickup. The boy wants to take the car and take the previous owners out for supper...lol. All of us have vehicles; DH has a 72 Challenger, we have a '68 ford that could be shown and my car, although nothing anywhere as fancy as the guys...is the only newer one but it's a black Charger. We hope to hit the closer car shows next summer together.

I have 3 oegb roosters with the girls and they have nothing to do with each other. But the 12-14 other oegb roosters are with the big guys. It's shocking to watch how a bigger rooster may grab a little guy...but the entire bunch of little guys come to the others rescue and chase the big guys away. If the oegbs a bunch...the biggest roos won't touch the oegb pack!

A duck bill and a foot?? I guess it's duck eggs? :clap
Taken last night. So I'm reading up on ducks, I know nothing about them...lol.

The boy went in the parade in a local town. He shined his car up last night and drove it in before the bugs were out so he'd keep it clean...lol.

He didn't know we were going to show up. The look on his face...priceless! Aw heck he's only young once...we can't miss the important stuff. The hay will wait.

He won fanciest car. He's pretty happy. His friends rode with him, good kids. The one friend had flags so they helped decorate his car. (not that you can see the flags in this pic...lol) Here's a screenshot from the video.

Can't enlarge enough to see. About a 56 Oldsmobile?

Its like doing Crochet... while I am learning a weave I wear my reading glasses then put on a second pair of "readers" from the drug store. Once I learn the weave it goes by feel and I can watch TV while doing it.
Nice part about it though is you can just drop the piece and tend to something else without loosing a stitch...

Didn't need no guy to tell me is a 55 Love it

I love white eggs! I think that's the magic there...not so much me...lol.

Do you have any pointers for hatching ducklings?

So far I've got the following: chick starter and most other starters are ok, amprollium in feed is ok but not necessary. Ducks have a higher temp and are usually very healthy.

I plan on feeding chick starter, mine's 21%...is that too high of protein? (angel wing?)

I need to keep water deep enough for them to clean their face, eyes and nares. They are messy, have something under the water to catch the water. Am I missing anything? IF they hatch. I seem to have this whole cold egg thing going on...lol.

(The eggs were cold, we're thinking the equipment damaged the nest. Note:not tame. I forgot to put them in the incubator when DH brought them home.
Stuck 'em in next afternoon...lol)

Biggest tip for hatching ducklings - they test our patience!!. They don't pip and zip as fast as chickens. Pip to zip of 40+ hours is not uncommon. It's so hard to wait for them!

I prefer flock raiser for ducklings but honestly, i feed whatever, so I'm not the best one to ask about that stuff. Most duck people insist that niacin is major important for their bones, and I'm not knocking it as truth, but I've never supplemented any. Jump on some of the threads in the Duck section for better advise on the raising front. :D

I'd be happy to help any way i can with any hatch issues though. :)

My momma duck hatched 4 of 6 yesterday and today. She left the last 2 eggs. One was a quitter, but the other had externally pipped, so i assisted, and have it in the brooder now. Hope she will take it tomorrow. It's got a bit of splay leg, so i hope it gains some strength overnight.

Ron when you do find a place to have roosters make sure they are far enough away that they don't drive you to crazy. lol
My coop is about a 1/4 mile from the house and I did not mind having so many roosters crowing in the mornings most of the time.

As for ducks I am no expert but when I had some hatching I just got a shoe box size plastic tub from the dollar tree and they loved it. They could wash their face and after a couple weeks they could get in the water and it not be too deep for them. When they got bigger I gave them a kiddie pool with blocks to be able to get in and out of the pool.

Agree, @chickadoodles. My coop is a converted shed that isn't 1/4 mile from the house but it is a good 260 feet and it does make a difference when it comes to noisey roosters. Inside with the AC going we don't hear a thing out of them, windows open, faint crowing. Out in the yard, yep, you hear them, LOL.

I wear reading glasses and do not need correction for far vision. On my list is getting some type of correction.
