The Old Folks Home

I just turned the pellet stove on. It didn't hit 60 here today, and I worked outside in the rain all day in a graveyard (not in my town, back training with the guy from NY). I am soaked and completely filthy and freezing.
Get a nice hot bath and have a warm drink.:hugs

The garden, half the grass and the flowers got watered. Will do the other half of the grass in the morning. So excited to get started on my chicken coop tomorrow. It is going to be 8'x10'. I am going to subdivide it so i can have two breeds of chickens. :celebrate

Think I will have to 12 by 8 to house my girls replacing my main coop thought I could build it in the dome coop but better idea is doing it inside the garden we gave them as a run... this is a goodnight to everyone I am giving up Dr. appt early see if I can find one closer to home I can respect as much as the one I have to leave as they are 2 hrs and 45 minutes from us now.

gig.gif That made me laugh right out loud when I read your comment...lol! There were actually about 35 lines of "p" but I'd already deleted most by the time I thought to screenshot it...lol. (Embarrassing!) sleep.gif icon_redface.gif
So sad about donrae. Hopefully her passing was a peaceful one. One breath in this life and the next in Heaven. Comforting thoughts and prayers to her family, friends and loved ones. Rest in peace.

SGC. I read that tombstone and had a catch in my throat. Am I reading that right? 12 years old and dying in 1816? I oft times find myself in old cemeteries standing and staring at tombstones such as this one, wondering what life was like for the person who's name is on the stone and trying to visualize it in my mind. I also find myself wondering if what killed them then wouldn't have been curable today?

What killed a 12 year old? Accident? Infection? Flu? Appendicitis?
Would he or she have survived their illness today?

I truly admire you and your husband's work.

Thanks Wicked. Nice seeing you pop in! Don't be a stranger!

Checked my broody this morning. 4 out of 7 hatched with one zipping. Two not doing anything. One is the egg with the air cell at the top of the egg instead of the bottom and the other I thought may have quit somewhere mid gestation. Momma is a little nervous but otherwise doing well for a first time broody. She doesn't seem to like the little ones moving around under her too much but in the next instant is calling to them and dropping down tiny bites of mash for them. I think she's going to do fine.
It's been busy all around and I wanted to sit down and read when I had enough time to absorb everything on here. I didn't mean for it to be a week and a half later. Yikes!
Congratulations on the chicks! :thumbsup I was hoping the egg with the odd air cell would've made it. Darn.

well may have killed all my eggs as in cats turned the heat way down not
sure when :oops::sick
Bad kitties!
What's that old saying, they aren't dead until they are all warm and dead.

I'd give them a chance to warm up really well and then candle. Hopefully you will be surprised.
Yes! :ya:woot
that is just what I am doing turned the temp back over about 4 hours honestly
not sure all eggs seems much to liquid ?
How far are they along? :)

I'm still alive and....well somewhat kicking. Seems that I have the Meneires under control for the time being. The crickets are very quiet right now and my balance is greatly improved......but I am not gonna fool myself, I know what the inevitable is but that could be 20 to 30 years from now. So I have decided to learn to play a stringed instrument(guitar and/or banjo) while I can still hear.

I have also been busy logging .....in 95+ degree heat. I have gotten used to it but my equipment doesn't like the high temperature. So far we have harvested live oak, post oak, cedar elm and a medium american elm. All pecan trees are off limits on the property. At least until full maturity....which is about twenty years from now.

I am now gonna try to catch up on all the post now......

I am learning to fix breaks!

Two of the 2.5 projects that I dug up yesterday.

Dug them up, got them cleaned off. The first stone is 1794 (they used f's as s's which was the norm for that time period... the name is Ifaac Keen), the second is 1830's I think, with 3 names on it - Dad and 2 kids. Both stones got a nice new, deep hole dug for stablity, and the second one I already sunk down real deep, leveled and infilled, ready to epoxy and set the top back on it today. The third thing I started to dig up with a new friend ended up having a concrete hell in the ground about 18 inches down holding the rest of the broken tablet hostage. It was pouring then, and I was covered in mud, so no pictures. Today we get to expand that hole and try to get that puppy out of there, chisel it off and then epoxy.
