The Old Folks Home

Wow, the last time I saw a movie in a theater it was the original Star Wars, no kidding. It was a double feature with Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

So sorry you lost your pretty lady Chicka :hugs

Been spending the pm off and on playing 20 questions with a mod trying to figure out why I don't have a bookmark button anymore. Usually the mods are great but I keep having to answer the same questions, I'm beginning to think she doesn't believe me.
(I've decided to just live w/o the button and save things the old way. Not worth the hassle)
I was missing my bookmark button and it just showed up a day later. I have no idea what it was about...never got a chance to ask anyone. I think others had there button by the sounds of it.

Old barns and old houses, bullet proof, and nice barn wicked, I'd rather have a barn like that than a nice house lol, someday...
No board stealing here but we did have back during what we called the 'redneck gold rush' junk cars worth more for scrap than running, people driving their cars to the crusher, trucks piled high with metal of all sorts, copper was real high. Scumbags were breaking into houses and stealing copper pipe, ripping it out of walls even. My BIL hauls used cars, said one dealership he hauled for said all their trade ins someone came through at night and somehow stole all the the catalytic converters.

I'm sure the flood took it's toll on the structural integrity. We could have cried...it's never seen a flood in all those years.

Did that just happen??? :barnie :he :he

Skunk was eliminated, wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be.

Did you need to use the fancy soap that SCG suggested?

speaking of graduations... My son just filled in his paperwork to graduate from San Diego State....

:ya. Fantastic! Absolutely fantastic!!

I've seen articles from the west part of Canada where people are stealing boards from older board fences for the livestock and such...

We have an old barn in Texas...I called around, those places that sell old barn wood for big bucks... wanted to see if I could sell them the barn....

They said NO!

If I did all of the work to dismantle the barn, they were willing to pick up the piled up lumber for zero cost. :th

To fix the barn, just the foundation...only place with rot....starts at $40,000

Skunk was eliminated, wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Havahart trap, what a dumb idea, now you got it what ya going to do now? I'd had rather caught a coyote or bear even.
Lost some chicks from the darn thing but all safe now.
Did I ever reply to your previous post about skunks? I think I noticed SCG did...I think I fell asleep reading and never did reply?
Floods don't happen here much in the hils but dealt with some recently. Near the rivers they're used to it, had runoff floods hit hard last ten yrs or so. Heard fire department say they'd rather fight a fire any day than deal with a flood, can't control water.
We've never flooded here. Completely unheard of. We've started getting more rain in our area in 2011. By 2013 the neighbors were putting tracks and duels on their equipment. We put flotation tires on our combine...and I had to unload on the go or we sank. When they got dumped on north of us with rain..it arrived here at the same time we got 14 inches in one day. Everything was saturated and the sloughs were full. In 2 hours we went from a running creek to the Mississippi river.

This is the creek, still over flowing several days later but it shows the actual size of it. It only runs in the spring. It's dry through the summer.

Same shot but from much further east. You can see the sign by the big tree where the above pic was taken from. Mother nature certainly rules the roost.

SCG recommend a old timey soap, not fancy lol! I bet it does the job though. My fil uses it, could've got a bar from him, luckily didn't need it though my good boots and a hat I like and the clothes I was wearing have been banned to outside for now. Didn't spray much at all, though it did hit me once like nasty rotton onions. Think it was on the dirt under the trap, got on boots, walked through 'air' I didn't smell it on me but DW immediately sent me back outside to strip. Got lucky, only smelled outside for a little bit then disappeared.
