The Old Folks Home

The little pearl onions grow in clusters on the tops, some will shoot out from those clusters and grow more clusters on those tops. The weight of them will bend the plants down to the ground planting themeselves and shoot up new plants, and they'll virtually 'walk' across the garden planting themeselves.
I'm growing them more controlled. I planted the onions in a row with black plastic on each side to kill all weeds. Now I'm taking up the plastic to plant all these on each side of the originals.
They are hardy and winter over. They can be used like green onions in the spring early summer and grow vigorously. Both the top onions and bottom root onions can be eaten, the bottom onions are bigger about the size of a elongated golf ball.
Next yr when I have a ton of them I'm going to pickle them.
Now that's quite amazing! That's about as cool as it comes! That puts a better image in my mind...still wigs me out a bit though...lol.

Love camping though we don't very often at all (DW doesn't care much for it..)
Have fun!
This DW doesn't like camping either. Probably thinking your walking onions will get her in the night!:lau

A house without air conditioning is too much camping for me...lol. Growing up, my family worked all summer and never camped. I never developed the love for it. I let the guys go...I stay here with you guys.
Like they may be walking up and peeking in your windows at night?
Yes...something like that. Come marching across the yard to get me!

We have two houses  and this one at the farm, the one I'm in right now is built at ground level. I never feel comfortable in it. My house is a split level and I look down about 5 feet at someone who's standing outside. I feel much more at peace being that high up over people on the ground. It feels safer.

The onions couldn't get in that way...:lau

I like camping but husband likes hotel rooms. Have not been camping since i was a teen.
I'm really bad. I don't even care for hotel rooms if I don't have to. I like to go and then come back the same day...lol.

IF I absolutely have to go away...one night stay is about all anyone can handle of me...because I get pretty grouchy if I have to stay two nights...lol.

I just cracked out my new blood sugar testing kit and omg...it's been a while since my last set...lol. Things are a lot smaller...and I made certain to get the ultra fine lancets. Well, they're a lot finer than the fine I used to have...:lau I probably could've made due with the regular ones...I don't really feel any pain from these...lol. That's a good thing though. I really need tinier fingers to pick up the test strips. Wow. When they say on the side "small and portable"...they aren't joking.
......:th
