The Old Folks Home

Was watching the weather channel a short bit ago and they had a flooded intersection as the background with a stalled car sitting off to the side. Over time it showed a number of cars start in and then think better and back up and turn off to the side and go around. Of course the announcer is talking all about the flooding. Then before they could shut the camera down, here comes this regular, no lift 4x4 pick up truck who just kept right on motoring right on through, no problem at all. So yeah... there's flooding, and then there's FLOODING. I have seen some pictures along the coast on the offshore barrier islands and there's been a lot of damage out there from surge. Also, where the actual eye came onshore, the area to the NE of it's track got pummeled pretty badly. I guess we'll get a better picture of just how bad it is over the coming week. The run-off river flooding won't get really bad till after the storm is gone.

Now you see it, now you don't - they named that storm well, didn't they?:he

But do not mock, JD; it ain't over yet. The big story with Dennis/Floyd was the water, and most of that was only apparent days later. A few years ago, the remnants of a storm that had gone in through a Gulf state passed through here, and spawned a weak, short-lived tornado that killed two people. When your house is the one hit by a falling tree, even what is barely a ripple of energy can be a disaster to

.

e.t.a. Stay safe!

I'm not mocking Bunny. Harvey has been a royal pain in the patooty...... and it seems he just will not quit.
We've made it through the wind and dealing with rain at present. We've also been without power since 5am yesterday.

Go home Harvey!!!!!!

One of our little girls spilled nail polish on our kitchen table. If that wasn't bad enough she cleaned it up herself. What do you clean up nail polish with? Nail polish remover of course. Which took the varnish right off.
And I was the one that got in trouble!?
Mom was at work and guess I was supposed to be watching them?

Just how closely does a child old enough to do her own nails need to be watched? Can we say, "helicopter parent?" I somehow doubt you were the one who taught her how to use the polish and remover.

Did you know the alcohol in flea spray does a great job of getting Sharpie ink off of vinyl flooring?:th
