The Old Folks Home

Wicked our cows used to get a bunch of our pears from the wind blowing them down. Now that we have moved the fence they get what we let them have. lol

Scg I have to admit that I sometimes feel the same way about adulting time. lol
I would rather be doing other things as well. lol
And even when dh is off work he's either napping or sleeping.

The adult in me started to feel guilty about desiring to spend all my day in the sewing room when I have so much adulting things to do.

For me, sewing would be an adulting thing...because swearing (and I don't swear) would more than likely be involved. Sewing is too..umm...detailed...requires too much concentration...is something my Mom and older sister do.

Nice pics have you tried to bake with the hickory nuts?

They are so hard to crack I've never done enough of them at one time for baking. I've managed a couple to eat on occasion but that is it.
The squirrels here love them...but clean-up the acorns first.
The chickens eat the ones that get run-over and crushed enough.

I went to Lynchburg today and loaded the truck with cedar slabs. I pretty much got all he had except a few pieces that were too long to put in the 8 foot bed. I got a dog cage for $20 at Goodwill. Bought a white pumpkin, green beans and pickling cukes at a roadside stand. Went to Dicks and bought a .308 deer rifle on sale. It took forever to put all my info on the computer and then it crashed so i had to do it all over again on paper. It was just one of those days!

We got a neat nut cracker when we lived in TN. Works on a screw principle. We have a hickory tree next to the house that is dropping nuts at all hours on our tin roof! Bonk! 3am, Bonk! ETC. We also have black walnut and paw paw trees galore.

Temperatures here are still going to be hovering in the high 80 low 90s here this weekend so I will probably be in the house continuing fall cleaning and push coop cleaning back to the first of next week when the temps are finally going to drop to the high 60s low 70s.

We got the stove and stove pipe cleaned out so that is good to go. I always feel better when we have that done and ready for the first fire of the season.

I got my Halloween/fall decorations out. I simply love Halloween and fall decor. Getting it out means that when I put it away after Thanksgiving it will be time to get the Christmas decor out and that is something I love more than Fall decor.

So my weekend will be spent as a continuation of the Fall cleaning quest.
I have my fall decoration boxes drug out too. My front porch is already loaded with pumpkins. Actually my pie pumpkins. The whole decorating for fall/Thanksgiving gets a bit confusing up here tho because it's not all that unusual for us to have a foot of snow on the ground by then. But then with this turning into one of the crazier La Nina years, who knows?
