The Old Folks Home

Well, my bread didn't flatten down into concrete stepping stones! Still a little dense in the middle, but it browned a little and isn't completely rock hard... It does look like 2 xenomorphs hatched in my kitchen though...

The bird appears to be happy munching cockatoo seed and trying to sleep in his food dish. Strangely tame wild bird.
What kind of bird is it and why is it in the kitchen?

So spinal stenosis. I wonder if that is my problem, i am having numbness and tingling in hands and feet.
Check it out with a neurologist or orthopedic Dr. The micro surgery for spinal stenosis is getting quite good now. I had it for lower back stenosis 9 years ago

It is getting there!
to make sure the bread is cooked completely, use a probe thermometer and bake until the center is at 205F

The kitten is feeling frisky. 20171009_110008.jpg
That is the top of the door he is standing on!

So ... our two hens (who had been overly loved by our five roosters) have been moved to the girls' bunkhouse at our neighbour's farm. Our poor 'Roo' is looking for his buddies. We built a coop out of two livestock panels bent over to make a rounded roof. We covered that with a heavy duty tarp and put in a wood floor covered with a thick stall mat. We closed the ends in with wood and cut windows on each with screening to allow air circulation. We then built a run attached to that. Mostly the roosters use the run at the end of the day. They like to roost in there and watch the sun go down before they head back into the coop.

welcome!

Pull up a rocking chair and sit a spell!

I am over in Alaska, currently nasty wet and rainy for the last month.

I have a mess of chickens, Muscovy ducks, and 3 milk goats.

Of all of my chicken breeds, only my Appenzeller Spitzhauben can be run with ridiculous rooster to hen ratios with zero ill effects.

Watch your girls closely, especially their backs, and the back of their heads.

How far north are you? I am at Latitude 69...so not too bad. All of that toasty Japanese water comes up my way and helps keep us warm.
I'm much farther south than you. Around Latitude 53. I did end up putting our hens back into the girls' quarters down the road. I am sure they are heaving a sigh of relief this morning! The 'boys' seem much calmer and happier on their own too. A lot less fighting.
