That's horrible, SGC. Hopefully you will be able to recover some of your loss through insurance. Wish we could all be there to help you clean up.

Before we retired we momentarily considered a move to Alaska and started to do research about what it would take to do it. We finally came to the conclusion that it would be too much of a shock to us having to acclimate to 8 months of winter a year. We are both very much the outdoorsy types. As much as we both admire the Alaskan lifestyle, we are in reality, warm climate people.

Our winters here are slightly milder than they were in Illinois but sometimes we wish they were just a bit more milder.

It took us forever to find a place on the river with acreage. Looked in 5 states and drove thousands of miles searching. Still regret no bath tub here.

No tub would not bother me. I have to much trouble trying to get in or out of one these days. Shower suits me fine.

The rumors of power returning to central Maine are true. Still have friends out but I am back. Lots of clean up today.
And yes, hands clean was the worst part. It is another circus to add a farm to power outages.

I love to soak when i am sore, the hotter the better. And i am sore daily.

We have a shower now but are talking bath tub shower combo in the future.

With my joint pain, sometimes a good long soak in hot water with some epsom salts in it is what it takes to feel better.

DH was raised in WI where he said they had two seasons. Winter and July. I don't think I could take living up there. I feel the cold too acutely.

@chickisoup, those emojis make me giggle. Thanks. Be careful shoveling that snow. That consistency is the hardest on your heart.

I prefer a shower. When we had a well the water came out brownish, nobody wanted to be in a tub of brown water. If you filled a glass and let it stand, you'd see all the gunk at the bottom- loads of iron.

My parents used to drive to a cousin in the city and fill up tons of bottles from the garden house. Of course later they said garden hose wasn't made to drinking quality.

Once we got city water years later, we stuck with the showers.

Personally I prefer showers. Sometimes I'm so greeby here especially in the summer that the thought of sitting in a brew of my own grime isn't something that I want to do.
