The Old Folks Home

I got asked if I drink yesterday. :lau I like wine. Most wine I think. But I only have a glass or two on special occasions like Thanksgiving and such. So when the doctor asked me that I laughed out loud...lol!!!

I disappeared yesterday because I had an appointment with the walk in doctor who had called for new blood work when she refilled my prescriptions for the diabetic meds I take. Apparently she's concerned about a few things; she upped my db meds because I'm not quite under control (which I knew) and changed it to twice a day so I'd remember. And she called for another blood test for me yesterday because my liver enzymes are higher again than last time.

I wasn't sure the first time I saw her...but she must have studied back and saw I missed my physical last year (I thought I had) so I'm set to go back next week and get up-to date there. She questioned about the mammogram I had previously and what family had cancer. When she found out every woman in my close family has or has had cancer and that my mom died decades ago...it sounds like she's sending me in again!

I was impressed! It's not easy to impress me. She's whipping me into shape! :lau Maybe she will be my new doctor...since I don't have one. She also told me to get Vitamin B12 to help my memory. I told her I was going to buy a weekly pill dispenser to keep track...but what did I do? I forgot to buy it! :lau Taking B12 right away. :p
It is great to find a good Dr.!

What type of B-12 will you get?

We have one strength of timed release supplement here and I bought another one last night when I got my prescription filled. I eat good sources of B12 as it fits in well with what I eat for maintaining lower sugars. Perhaps I should be looking more into it.
Did I answer that correctly?

Ohhhhhh....I take Metformin and now she's upped it. Maybe B12 IS why I haven't got any brain of late. I'd like to have my brain back. It's pretty handy and I'm a bit lost without it.

Lack of B12 can cause serious memory problems. Like dementia almost.
That could explain it! :lau computer_1.gif

Yes you did!

I hope the b-12 works for you.

I always had children of elderly parents, middle aged, upper middle age come up to me in the nursing home almost in tears after visiting their parent with Alzheimers or Dementia and telling me they were so affraid that they were going to wind up like 'mom' or 'dad' or 'granny'. They would inevitably tell met hat they were 'loosing things' and forgetting names. I would hug them and ask them this question. When you loose your car keys and find them. Do you know what you are supposed to do with them? They would blink at me and say 'Why of course, I use them to start my car.' I would just pat them on the arm and say, 'you are normal. When you loose your car keys, find them, then cannot remember what you do with them, time to see your doctor.'

Their faces would light up and they would hug me and thank me. Simple pimple.
