I've been exploring a lot of the forums lately that I hadn't been on before. This tomato tree caught my eye. Thanks for the welcome. I'll be here more often.

Hello and welcome to the OFH.
I was pretty amazed at this tomato tree also. I think it could be done in a version of the RGGS system with air pruning to promote vigorous growth.
In a grow bag placed in a 5 gallon bucket with holes cut in it for air pruning.
Please let me know if you try it and share pics. I would love to see it done.

It also appears to be grown in a hydroponic system. Hmmm. I think I need to look into the exact environmental requirements for this "tree" (it's clearly been trained) Might be a fun project for me.

Chicki check out the RGGS system with air pruning for the roots! As long as it has a constant supply of water and is fed regularly it should be a fantastic project!

No big plans here. Today is opening day for deer rifle season. I went to bed last night with my toe throbbing and decided that I'd decide if I was going out this morning. Woke up at 6 AM and DH asked if I was getting up. I felt like somebody had beat me with a stick so no, and went back to sleep until 7:30. Not too many rifle shots being heard around us so I didn't miss much, LOL. Sometimes my aching bones just cannot fathom the logic about getting up getting dressed and trudging out to sit in the cold just to not see a deer. It's like they are telling me "okay, if you are stupid enough to do this don't complain!" If it isn't raining by 3 pm we will probalby go out for awhile but the deer population is down so bad that we aren't holding out much hope. Same for tomorrow although I'm baking bread tomorrow and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies maybe today.

If anyone is interested in the air pruning method for gardening here is a video from Larry Hall who has done a lot of research on this method of gardening and he has a Face Book page on his RGGS method of gardening that has a lot of helpful and knowledgeable folks on it.

The remembrance day service at the school was very nice. The boy did a lovely job with reading his piece and his class did a very nice job with the service.

This weekend: I actually have plans! It's amazing. My sister's 40th birthday, visit Grandma and some shopping. Sunday is moving the heifers back home and making food to bring to the fowl supper.

The temps have risen substantially and now that I can move/bend...I hope to get the rest of chickenry items washed and put away...and heated waterers in the coop and shed for the chickies.

Happy Veterans day and a hearty thanks to all who served either through conscription or as a volunteer. Most of our WW II and Korean vets are already passed on and those left will all be gone in too short a time. Even those who lived through Vietnam are aging fast. I sit here amazed at how the time has passed. Nam ended in '75 and that was 42 years ago So any vet who served then would be, at a minimum, in their late 50's early 60s, and most in their 70s. My son is a Gulf war vet and he's in his 30s. Where did the time go?

Anyway, Thanks again to all who served! Hope you can take advantage of some of the Vet offers available today. Go get a free meal or free haircut. I'm headed to TSC to spend a bunch of money and save 15%.
