The Old Folks Home

We just had our first frost... which was due Oct. 20th.... but :hitany way.
My condolences!

We have not had a hard frost in a many years here. When we get below 20F, water pipes break here because it is very rare to go that low. The all time low for Woodland is 15F. The last time we had measurable snow was 2002

Which is why California is so popular. But those fires are scary!

still waiting hate it.... how are you doing...

hope you are well there waiting is horrible

I don't know why I keep buying from Burgess. Honestly I bought 5 fruit cocktail trees from them and none of them were more than one fruit variety! Makes me mad. They do offer a one year guarantee but it takes 3-4 years to see what it will produce!
I bought some grape vines from them and I am very disappointed in those also 1 out of 4 is alive! I won't spend any more of my money with them. Just tired of getting burned after 6 years of trying.

Burgess must be plant site right , folks used Gurneys nursery I did but ordered seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom seeds and had them grow like gangbusters even planting later out grew Gurneys even some started plants

DH served three years in the Army during the Vietnam War. He served in the ASA, a branch of the NSA in Korea and the US as an electronic intercept technician

Dad served for 9 years prior to WW II. He was in the Cavalry, in the veterinary corps and a member of the Army's show equestrian team. He was also honor guard for Roosevelt's inaugurations.

My brother served in Vietnam for two years. It was pretty much a nightmare for him that he seldom talks about.

We have a friend who served in Vietnam. He came away from it with Parkinson's disease from agent orange exposure.

So many gave so much of themselves in service and are still sacrificing years of their lives to defend the life we hold so dear.

Today, on Veteran's Day, if you love your freedom, thank a vet....and hug the veterans in your life.

Thanks Penny. Yes Burgess is actually Eburgess.com

I have been ordering my seeds from and Amish store and they are Berlin Seeds in Ohio
everything I ordered from them did very well except for my basil. We just had to much rain and not nearly enough sun for a lot of my stuff. I had to replant a couple of times.
Due to all the cloudy days.
I have ordered some from Gurneys and Park seeds. I will have to check out Baker Creek.
Thanks so much.

Did i ever mention that guineas are not my favorites? I tried to lure them into the new coop yesterday, but there were 2 hold outs and the dog showed up and they all ended up getting out. Today i decided to get 'er done. I did not let the guineas out of the coop they have been in. I went in there and grabbed 2 or 3 at a time and carried them down to the coop. So here they are in their new home:

Sooooo......safe to say that you got your exercise for the day. Right?;)

I found this site last year and use it a lot. If you have ever been a victim of a plant nursery, it's great to have this knowledge.

If you have been stung by say Burgess, they own several other seed companies so as the saying goes, caveat emptor.
