The Old Folks Home

Thanks, @Wickedchicken6. Yeah, I don't even think this is a 'getting older' thing. I think it is a RA thing. Or at least a Rheumatic type of disorder. I told DH last night that I needed to face the fact that the first thing a specialist was going to tell me was not to work so hard and get more rest. I seem to be tired all the time now so the get more rest thing seems to be a no brainer. I sit down on the sofa for 10 minutes and I'm yawning followed by dozing now.

My kit coop will be set inside my main run which will make it protected by a hot wire and cover. No way I would try to keep birds in it over the winter months without some serious insulation but I figured other than trying to section off part of the main coop or nesting boxes one would make a passable broody cage with room for hens and chicks after hatching or brooding. The one I chose had the funniest review I've ever read. It basically said. that the product description stated that it was made from solid wood. But when opened it 'smelled of cedar' so they were packing it up and sending it back.:idunno Can you say....DUH?:gig
I think if your specialist tells you that, that's a good idea. It's fantastic you already understand everything that is entailed with rheumatoid arthritis and with the progression of drugs etc. :hugs

I was the one who was taking my grandmother to her specialist. She just did not like him. I thought his receptionists could've used a good kick somewhere, with the attitude they had...but I thought her doctor was very nice. I couldn't get her to go back, none of the family could convince her...so now she can point at several people at once. It's very sad.

However we make her laugh about it, especially my sister who teases her about throwing gang signs at us! :gig

Had I got my building painted completely, I had planned on putting OEGBs in both for the winter. They're so small...it'd still be a huge place for them...lol.

I'm glad she's getting better. That's a long haul with an injury like that.

Ooooh...how many stairs do you have? I wish I'd of listened about stairs when we built our house. It's got 3 levels of stairs! :th
Our house has stairs to the deck. Then up to the loft for my bedroom . I try not to go up there more than necessary. But i do need exercise to wear of calories!

We have one level, 21 stairs. Next house will be single level for sure

Chocolate covered graham crackers...:drool I got one better than that. Chocolate MINT covered graham crackers. The local C&R has them. Give me a big tall glass of ice cold milk and a package of those babies and I am in hog heaven. They taste like the girl scout chocolate mint cookies.

We're hard on crackers in this household also. We love them. Many afternoons, DH and I sit down with a sleeve and a jar of peanut butter. Instant pick me up.

There's such a thing as MINT chocolate covered grahams????:drool:drool:drool:drool:drool:drool:drool

We don't have graham crackers in our house, nor saltines or Ritz etc. Sometimes I hide a sleeve of crackers to go with venison summer sausage and cheese. If I don't hide a sleeve I don't have them either, have to eat it without. We buy them but never have any, disappear, two legged rats steal them...
Have that problem here with Wavy Lays. DW can control herself with the BBQ ones but regular? She'd eat the entire "Family size" bag in one go. So we don't have those in the house (as far as she knows).

I just realised I am going to need to make my bed before i can sleep in it tonight because i did laundry. Maybe the cats will help:lau
Our cats are not at all helpful in that respect. Two of them spend most of their time sleeping on the bed. Gotta get the cats off the bed to strip it, gotta get them off to make it. Actually down to one now, the 15-16 Y/O cat has moved to the living room for the winter now that the wood stove is running 24x7.

I hear you on falling apart! My DW is slowly recovering from her fall and Knee MCL injury. She is using the moderate brace now and is getting around a bit better but stairs are a real challenge
Is she going up "straight" or sideways? My knees were really bad pushing 30 years ago, no idea why. But I couldn't go straight up stairs, I had to step up them sideways, less pressure on the knees. Have the "good leg" on the uphill side. DW and I went to Tulum in Mexico for our honeymoon 27 years ago. Took a tour of the Mayan ruins. The guide showed us how to climb the pyramid steps, yep sideways like a switchback rather than straight up. You may travel farther but you aren't winded at the top. Proved really useful when we later went to Chichen Itza with its bigger pyramids.

Yes, husband restacks dishes if i put them in the dishwasher so i let him do it.
I do get others to help me lift and i ask for help in stores to load heavy stuff. Sadly hubby has a bad back and sons are in FL so no help there.
I really want to plant spring bulbs again today. Need to get it done before cold closes in.
I think it would be most fantastic if they made feed bags and softener salt bags in half sizes. :clap However I doubt that would ever happen.

I was at the point of being able to lift a bag down and walk it around. Now I was cracking a bag open in the barn and walking back and forth with part pails of feed to fill the feeders. I think I'm up to lifting a full pail (8 litres) of feed and water with my back again...but my elbows say "NO!" :gig I say :smackto you elbows.

But I'm still being good and lifting partial pails.
So lots of walking exercise..that's a plus. :clap

They do make smaller bags of feed but charge a lot more for them. Have you considered making wheeled supports for the garbage cans you keep feed in? You could move them around easier that way.
