The Old Folks Home

just lyme disease spread by them

Lyme is spread by ticks. Mosquitoes spread a bunch of other nasties, including fun things like West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis.

Ron, sorry to hear you are under the weather, too. We've had a beastly cold here that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. BB2K caught it almost 2 weeks ago, and she's still coughing . . . we're all just so done with this bug!:rant

I had one 2 years ago that had a cough that lasted 4 weeks! It was terrible!
I hope yours is better soon

The cooler weather is much easier to breathe in for me than the hot& humid stuff....but, the changing seasons always stirs the sinuses, especially with the fluctuations in temps and it seems to always be more windy too. I always split a cotton ball and place the pcs in my ears when it is windy....my Mom taught us that from a young age and it really does help....:)

Afternoon all!

Just got home from DH having to have his regular 'pound of flesh' donation at the dermatologist's office. Poor baby. He thought his 3 month check up was going to be a breeze. 4 biopsy's later, we are on our way home.

Wear sun screen everyone. Trust me, it isn't worth the risk of not wearing it. Many of us were raised in the era of no sunscreen, We came home from school and went outside to play til supper and for the most part, we all had sunburns. Time to do skin checks. Three of the places biopsied today we didn't even see at home under normal lighting so make sure you do the skin check in good light. This is biopsy #10 for my husband and heartbreakingly it won't be the last.

It is likely too late though. Doesn't most of the damage happen before age 18?

Sometimes people get so covered up they look like vampires! No wonder Vit. D is so low.

There must be a trade off? Maybe we can be like the Cuban's and come up with a vaccine for skin cancer. The Cuban's have a vaccine for lung cancer to offset all of the cigar smoking....Why let a little thing like cancer keep you from a good Stogie!
