Lots of pots of coffee!

We get this kind of cold snap every winter but rarely this early or this long. Normally we always get our worst cold temps (and often accompanied with a blizzard) the week of Valentine's Day. Why? No idea, it just happens. If we are getting this stuff now I think we may need to leave come February. At least we are prepared for it. I feel sorry for the folks that are just up here visiting for Christmas. They're not hard to spot. They're the ones cussing and running across the parking lot at Walmart with a bag full of clearanced winter coats and boots.

I had a dog get flea infested and never show signs that he had fleas until I had them jumping on me. I tired everything short of a flame thrower to get those nasty things out of the carpet and off the dog. Finally went to the vet and told him what had happened and he told me to Frontline the dog and repeat in about a week and not to do anything else to the house. Seems as though the Frontline will transfer off the dog and onto the furniture, carpets, etc and kill the infestation in the house as well as on the dog.

I was dubious to say the least but followed his instructions and by golly, it did work. 3 days later, no fleas anywhere.

@superchemicalgirl, your puppy is adorable. What a face! BIG AWWWWWWW factor working there. As for being incontinent....well, yeah, that is part of their puppy contract. Our youngest female was a riot to housebreak. She would go outside, run and play with her brother then come in the house and squat. To this day she will go out run and play and on her way back to the house get about 10 feet from the door and you can literally see a light bulb go on over her head as she squats and relieves herself usually in the driveway. It's like she is thinking, 'oh yeah, almost forgot to pee!'

They are like babies. When that little bladder matures she will figure out where she is supposed to go. She or he? And does the baby have a name yet?

It was -5 this morning when I got up. DH tells me to toughen up and deal. Of course he lived up in north central WI for awhile so -5 is like a heat wave to him so -5 is a minor inconvenience to him and an 'OMG I do NOT want to go outside this morning' moment for me.

Still got to bundle up and take water out to the chickens.

As for the Kindles. A lot of our patient's with diminished vision who liked to read all reported that using a Kindle improved their ability to see to read. Mainly because you can adjust the background lighting, type size and even change the back ground color. The latter is beneficial for people with AMD.

Well, I can't put it off any longer....time to put on 8 layers of clothing and chug out to the coops with a couple gallons of hot water.

Y'all stay warm and have a good day!
