Pretzels are out!

Just sent this up to my SIL in Wisconsin. I'm sure she'll relate. DH was raised there and says they never took a snow day when he was a kid in school.

We generally let the younger more reckless people have possession of the roadways on New Year's Eve. If it wasn't so cold out we would be out in the pasture shooting off firework mortars in our cannon......yes, it's a REAL cannon. May just have to settle with firing off a shotgun or two at midnight then do what all sensible people do at 12:01.....go to bed.

What a sweet puppy face!
If you remove a toy from the bed when she can't see you (in her crate or outside) and put it some random place, out of sight, can she find it?

No, at this point she can't even find treats in front of her nose.

We did our annual pig butcher today. Took 12 hours total which includes prep and clean up. Got the entire pig in the freezer, tons of bacon bits this year... did much better than last year. Got less sausage (about 42 lbs total), but more roasts... again, did better with the butchering. The best part was they told us to bring our puppy and their 10 year old son spent the day cuddling and sleeping with the dog on their couch (and taking it outside to potty). They claim the puppy didn't have any accidents (or on purposes) in the house, but I can tell you the dog didn't want to leave.

She's now sleeping on her mat which is in front of the stove. All her toys are off her bed, surrounding it in a very even semicircle. The dog is snoring.

And the humans are bushed.

I know you hesitant at first sounds like you pretty attached now

What a lot of work!

You will be in the Pork for a long time. Love pork!

The other pig lasted us a little over a year (we still have a teeny bit in our freezer). I had to ration the bacon last year (and the sausage). The roasts didn't go as fast - still have a few left. Need to be better this year about taking it out and using it.

And yes, the damn dog is worming her way into my cold heart. She's still a terribly lot of work and she smells and I still am more of a cat speed kinda girl but she is adorable.
