The Old Folks Home

There is a stuff you can spray on old wallpaper to loosen, or dissolve the glue, then there is a scraper that takes it all off.

Hi MrsMisty. Welcome to the Old Folks Home. This thread is about a lot of old timers, and a few not so old timers talking about everything under the sun. Hope you enjoy being here.

Ahh good I'm getting up there so a slower pace dose me fine, but not to slow, thanks

Good morning everyone thanks for the warm welcome. Yesterday my system was down so I was having tech problems, so far so good.so what's this thread about? :idunno

Hi MrsMistyReal, Yes, welcome to the thread. Sorry I'm a bit late welcoming you. I'm studying for a HAM radio license and running a bit slow these days. You can teach an old dog new tricks but it does take it longer to learn,

For the most part we talk about anything that crosses our minds when it comes to life and chickens. Most of us are from the era of the Beatles and even before that. We are all dealing with the same health problems either in ourselves or our loved ones. We all are worried about the ruthless march of time and what it holds in store for us and for the most part, we just hang out and do our best to support one another and in the interim make one another smile. Oh, and we talk about food also.....we all love food.:drool And SuperChemicalgirl's beautiful quilting.......and Ronott's recipes....and Capricornfarm's coop builds......

Did I post the Cheese photos?...Let me see....Nope! I love the feature that lets you see people that have posted in a thread. I just used it to go back to my posts to see if I posted the cheese photos.

I am making cheddar cheese!

This is the wheel from a week ago:

re: Walls in need of repair
How about a white bead board for the lower half, a chair rail, and then paint a contrasting color for the upper half? They actually have beadboard wallpaper now, so it could be fairly easy to make an elegant alternative to plain walls or paneling.

I LOVE cheese. I think I inherited the taste for it from my dad who would make a meal out of cheese and crackers.

In things we talk about I forgot to add ' and my chickens dropping dead,' which surprisingly they aren't at the moment. Last year this time I was loosing a bird every 5 to 7 days to some side effect of Marek's. Now, I open the coop door every morning with the same greeting "Okay, who's dead this morning?" and when I note that nobody's in a corner lying on their backs with their little feet in the air I must get this bewildered look on my face for an instant. I've hesitated culling extra roosters because usually they are the ones that are dropping like flies for me. I was talking to DH yesterday about asking our Amish neighbor's son if he wanted to make some extra money dressing out the 15 odd bantam cross cockerels I have and this morning DH said, you know, maybe you had better wait to see who doesn't make it through the spring breeding season.

I keep telling myself that this is a good thing but in the same breath, I keep waiting for the hammer to drop....

I have been making yogurt and also made cultured butter. I will make some mozzarella cheese soon and was told that the whey was used to make ricotta cheese.

The Bread Proofer I got for Christmas came with a recipe for farmers cheese that is a fresh cheese that I do not have to age. I want to make that too. My DD wants me to make goat cheese too
