The Old Folks Home

:drool
I LOVE cheese. I think I inherited the taste for it from my dad who would make a meal out of cheese and crackers.

In things we talk about I forgot to add ' and my chickens dropping dead,' which surprisingly they aren't at the moment. Last year this time I was loosing a bird every 5 to 7 days to some side effect of Marek's. Now, I open the coop door every morning with the same greeting "Okay, who's dead this morning?" and when I note that nobody's in a corner lying on their backs with their little feet in the air I must get this bewildered look on my face for an instant. I've hesitated culling extra roosters because usually they are the ones that are dropping like flies for me. I was talking to DH yesterday about asking our Amish neighbor's son if he wanted to make some extra money dressing out the 15 odd bantam cross cockerels I have and this morning DH said, you know, maybe you had better wait to see who doesn't make it through the spring breeding season.

I keep telling myself that this is a good thing but in the same breath, I keep waiting for the hammer to drop....
Cheese is great!

I am very happy that you are not having as many deaths now.

I love cheese.
Ron your cheese looks wonderful!

I did some home repairs 30+years ago and I used some flat back paneling called Autumn oak in place of sheetrock with a chair rail moulding. I mail Ted the walls with two different colors.it came out looking nice.
I did not have any help around so the paneling was light weight and held up and looked like sheetrock when put up backwards. Lol
The paneling was under 4.00 a sheet.

Hi MrsMistyReal, Yes, welcome to the thread. Sorry I'm a bit late welcoming you. I'm studying for a HAM radio license and running a bit slow these days. You can teach an old dog new tricks but it does take it longer to learn,

For the most part we talk about anything that crosses our minds when it comes to life and chickens. Most of us are from the era of the Beatles and even before that. We are all dealing with the same health problems either in ourselves or our loved ones. We all are worried about the ruthless march of time and what it holds in store for us and for the most part, we just hang out and do our best to support one another and in the interim make one another smile. Oh, and we talk about food also.....we all love food.:drool And SuperChemicalgirl's beautiful quilting.......and Ronott's recipes....and Capricornfarm's coop builds......
That's ok ham radio is it like cb I use to love cb radio, breaker breaker lol I've always wanted to learn more about ham radio

What kind of cheese ,can I place an order? I love cheese, I'm weak in the knees :drool

Nice hunk of cheddar there Ron (and not :sick orange)!

There are steamers that dissolve the glue behind the wallpaper. Probably doesn't work on the foil ones though.
I did not want to add dye to the cheese for sure

wow! That looks great! We just usually make ricotta. .. I hate waste, and ricotta gets the most possible cheese out of the milk... then the left over whey is used as the water to make rice. :hu

I tend to fall into a rut and then stay there. Nice rut, comfy, warm, familiar rut. :D

Yay Cheese! I make ricotta often and yogurt when I have time.

re: Walls in need of repair
How about a white bead board for the lower half, a chair rail, and then paint a contrasting color for the upper half? They actually have beadboard wallpaper now, so it could be fairly easy to make an elegant alternative to plain walls or paneling.

Al, You know what they say about a rut...Just a cemetery plot with the ends knocked out. Get out of the rut before someone fills it in!!

Welcome MMisty! :frow
