The Old Folks Home

Looks like the prices on her wool clothes is expensive and her alpacas for sale $1,500- $5,000- $14,000!!!
Might be a lucrative business. IDK though she's been driving the same old truck for 30yrs, but some people are like that. I would too if I could get one to last that long Lol!

Somehow the thought of Alpaca burgers turns me off . I watched an Animal Planet show years ago called "Growing up Alpaca." Other than learning the word cria, they seemed to be gentle animals when compared to Llamas. The owner let them explore her house because they were curious. They were very respectful of the belongings and didn't bother or knock over anything. Just lots of curious looks.

For about 5 minutes I considered getting one. But :he no where to put one,

Back during the "crazy times" people paid large amounts of money for breeders, raised them so they get babies (cria) to sell to people for large amounts of money so they could breed them so they could get cria to sell to people for large amounts of money ..... Eventually this "business plan" went bust when there were no more people willing to jump on that band wagon.

My 2 were given to me, about 7 years old. DD1 is an emotional vegetarian, no animal living here will be eaten which limits things substantially. Figured fiber animals could at least provide something. Alpaca fiber is worth more per pound than wool. The boys weren't sheared in 2016 (we got them in Oct) so what we took off last May/June is 2 years growth. Now we have to get on the picking, washing, carding, spinning part.

Alpaca fiber is very soft, warm and not "greasy" like wool, yet it is still water repellant and is not itchy.

Um, I don't think these 2 geldings are gonna make more alpacas. I would have to suffer from "alpaca math". They don't pack a lot, being relatively small (~110-190 pounds) but they can carry what a person would. Llamas are more often used for packing, they tend to run ~280-440 pounds so they can carry between 70 and 110 pounds.
I did look into Llamas because i wanted to adopt Larry but hubby vetoed it. Apparently they are good herd protectors and know how many goats they are in charge of.

I've had way too many caravans, and a super nice Chrysler town and country AWD minivan lots of room, great luck with them, but suck on gas....I'd rather have a truck or a little bitty car.
Kia Soul, 'toaster car' lol! My brothers girlfriend has a scion xb, similar toaster, he bought a old bronco ii last summer in mint condition same color they look like twins lol, I never liked them either when they were new, ugly little boxes compared to a full size bronco. As soon as I saw it though I was WOW! that's so cool! Reminds me of the virtually untouchable $$$ now broncos of the '60s and early '70s. The 2's had those big glass wrapped over the top in the back, didn't like that when they were new, don't mind it now.
DW picks on me cause I do like the look of the Nissan juke's, she thinks they're ugly, I think they look awesome, like you would want to drive them on the moon Lol!
I wonder what cars will look like in 20yrs?...
We probably wont be allowed to drive them:mad:
