The Old Folks Home

I fully agree, just don't SAY "Why are you still alive??" to the birds, they may get the wrong idea of what you want ;) I've found a couple dead, can't imagine how badly you feel when it happens every day or so!

I have one that I expected to loose back in November. She has severe Ocular Marek's in one eye that I suspect is a tumor behind the eye itself as the eye is bulging. When I checked her keel bone at that time it was very pronounced. She was eating well though leading me to suspect a cancer of some sort was at work but here it is the end of January and she has gained weight and the eye swelling hasn't progressed any further.

Yep, I really picked her up (she's a sweetie, a BO/Welly cross with a fantastic personality) held her up at eye level and asked her that question. 'Sassy, WHY haven't you died?" It's a puzzle to me and she just bawk bawk bawked back at me like she was saying "You worry too much, Mom!"

For some reason the die off I was experiencing has suddenly stopped in it's tracks. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled but yeah, why haven't any more died? What is the variable that has changed since last June? Something has and I'd like to know what so if there is another staggering die off I know what to do. The only thing I can figure out is in the fall, I added the copper laced food to their diet. And yes, by last May I felt pretty much defeated. Now I just feel guardedly optimistic.

@CapricornFarm Yeah, DH says that one nice morning he's going out with the camera and take a movie of me being greeted by the bantams. This morning I was running late and they were scowling at me through the door when I opened it up. I just held out a slice of bread and said, Yes, I know I'm late but look....I brought bread! All was forgiven.

Seriously, DH pointed asked me one morning if I could imagine what life would be like if the highlight of my day was waiting at the door for a member of another species to bring me a slice of bread and a cup of sunflower seeds?

Kinda puts things in a different perspective.

@penny1960 congratulations on the new KIA. If I was getting a different car that is what I would look for.

I saw something on FB talking about all of the videos of wild animals asking humans for help and calmly letting them get them out of whatever mess they are in. It said, have you ever though about how WEIRD it is that small prey animals, once they have tried everything they can think of seem to default to "go bother that apex predator over there and maybe it will fix the problem for you"... that's really weird...

Or better yet, the apex predator that approaches another apex predator, like the shark that was all wrapped in fishing gear that I saw on a video some time ago. When the diver got tool to free it, the shark had all the room in the world to swim away, yet it stayed right there as the line was cut off.

Hope you will be very happy with your new car Penny. I never learned to drive (didn't want to anyway) but, like to sit with my head out the window and bark now & then.

do you do that on the senior bus? :pop

Beer Can if you get one child a dog, shouldn't all your kids (If you have more) get a dog also. Plus which ,can I be an honorary daughter, I promise to take care of the puppy IF you promise to pay all expenses involved throughout it's lifetime.

:lau

Today- Brazil was discovered in 1500

Sunday- Space Shuttle Challenger exploded 1986
Hope you don't mind me sharing a bit of history :)

Thank you misty nice to have the memories reminding us

Kinda scary to think that all but one happened in my life time.

And before anybody has a chance to pipe in, yes, I'm talking about the discovery of Brazil.:old
