The Old Folks Home

Last week I mentioned I had finished a top for a baby quilt that I just absolutely couldn't stand.

Sat down this weekend and finished it between dog walks and chores.

It looks a bit better with some quilting.

I'm still embarrassed to gift it. It only cost me time and batting and I think you can easily tell. Obviously the top is all scraps of fabric (I have realized I hate scrappy quilts) as is the binding. Dsqard lost a bet to me and had to buy my backing fabric. I realize the kid is just going to excrete on it, so I'm going to have to get over the fact that it's not a prize winner and just gift it. Lesson learned. Just say no to scrap.

It looks WARM! Best quilts ever are warm one's. I see what you mean though, maybe if the boats were random. I really like the backside.

Stopped down to the store a little bit ago. Heard the guy had no health ins, local self employed contractor works on houses, didn't have much. Went to the hospital with pneumonia, found out he had a brain tumor, then stage four cancer, then croaked....
Looked healthy as a horse when Yolanda Vega handed him the big check.
Now I'm afraid to buy scratch off tickets...

Didn't Alanis Morrisette talk about him in a song? A premonition maybe? Won the lottery then died the next day (OK she was off a bit). I don't remember you mentioning it but then my memory is fading. Sorry he didn't get to enjoy his winnings. Hope his family doesn't fight each other trying to get it all.

SCG, you're always too critical of your work IMHO. I have seen nothing made by you that caused me any sort of illness or mental anguish. Even if the pattern wasn't something I'd get excited about visually, the workmanship has been awesome.

For those still sick or getting that way, please take care and get well.

Lol! I used to listen to her many yrs ago, heard that song I was 19 when it came out, Ironic, didn't remember that verse. Her song 'you oughta know' Wow! thought she was so hot! she was bad azz.
He had family and a long time girlfriend with a couple kids he raised. Million dollars after taxes isn't a ton, not something to live off of for the rest of your life but a big chunk. Hope it helps them out and doesn't become a nasty burden.
