The Old Folks Home

We had a ball making dinner it was bit harrowing as we learned as we went along I have made french bread ie garlic bread but pasta is new and had just bought the maker recently.. Deb good to hear your back among us missed you darnit

They are black birds...lots of them!

Actually driving home 10 minutes ago... bunches of magpies were together. I don't think that I have ever seen that many together. Not like your bunch... but maybe 15.

We do not have many magpies here anymore because they were hit hard by West Nile Virus

I was zoomed in too far to get them flying in formation. The camera has image stabilization and the fast flying birds messed it up--would not let me zoom back out
Cool vid, I think it was fine/made it even scarier with the blur of birds lol. We get that sometimes in the fall, blackbirds not sure what species but cover trees and fly off in a group, sounds cool.

They do that around here in the spring and fall, flocking to migrate. Since some of the oak trees around here don't loose their leaves over the winter you'll hear them without seeing them. It's a hoot to go out with the shot gun and let a round go. Suddenly they erupt from the tree that had been completely secluding them in one giant cloud.

Kind of a good sign of spring on the way. Although it was 60 some degrees out here three days ago and tonight when I went to lock up everything was glazed with ice. Not a robin to be heard the fickle little dirt balls.

Speaking of dirt balls, I went out with a gortex hooded jacket on with my hood up, walked into the coop and sent the little idiots into a panic. Broody went flying off the nest, every one was screaming. I looked at the three ceramic eggs and thought, great, back to square one. Dropped the hood on the jacket and it was like 'oh, it's you! Never mind' and everyone back to business as usual. Bantams are such spazzes.I watched my broody jump up a couple of times and check her eggs, nibble some oystershell...must think she needs more eggs.....and when a rooster tried to give her the old wink wink dance dance routine, she beat him up. He tried it again and she raised her wings like the Karate Kid did his arms in the movie and he ran for his life. She happily jumped back to her eggs so having reaffirmed my faith in her broodiness, tomorrow she gets the real thing.

Perchie, your upbeat attitude makes me smile.:hugsYou have a lot ahead of you. Please promise me that you will hang onto that attitude with both hands and arms. Don't let anything wrench it from your grasp. I've always felt that people do best with a smile on their faces and in their hearts.

SGC, if you aren't allowed to play with the weed incinerator any longer, give BF the job. DH is only allowed to play with it if I am standing behind him with the power sprayer loaded with water at the ready. When bodies meet frozen driveway, nothing good ever happens and the driveway always ends up winning.
