The Old Folks Home

We have to replace the sub-floor from the leak damage. So we will have to cut a 8x8 beam and the 2x4 studs that are rotten. And replace the plumbing under the floor before we can put the sink together. It would be hard to cut all the lumber in the rain.
So there is a lot more going into this than just the sink.
When we remoded our kitchen gutted walls and floor, right down to the logs that hold up the house, yup logs, 4' on center. Re-ran all plumbing, was so much fun, NOT. Was pretty cool though the newspapers that were stuffed in the flooring, two layers off tounge and groove, topped with a layer of plywood , and a few layers of the oldest ugliest linoleum I've ever saw Lol. Had some pretty good newspapers in it. Found my grandparents original wedding announcement, pretty awesome.
Me and DW wasted a lot of time reading those old newspapers Lol, have the stack of them on our fridge still, from 1905-to the mid 40s. A few of the clippings I've planned on framing, just haven't done it yet. Couple of my favs

Didn't notice that last one before, in the back side of the other, I bet DDT in the whitewash in a barn sure would keep the flies down,

Another one, cut out a section in our living room to repair water damage, section came out nice with a newspaper on the backside of the wallpaper. 1970, wish the prices for these old cars were still the same lol.

Probably the heat on top of the fridge makes it a bad place to keep newspapers you want to save.

I love old stuff. Our local newspaper is just weekly, they do two pages of 'a hundred yrs ago' awesome stuff, I saved this one awhile back. Towns just over the hill, haven't been able to find any more info on it, but cool IMHO

Was just reading last week, wish I took a pic, saved it, how many thousands of chickens our county was down (we don't have chicken farms, but it was 100yrs ago, guess we did then locally sort a kind a) and how much milk production was down, all due to the war, and all able body men being drafted.

I have heard of Unadilla. Dad knew all those towns, being a RR dispatcher.

No heat on top of our fridge, well insulated. Damage comes from being stuck in our floors and walls Lol!
Way back when economy went to crap, '08, 9 '10 I don't remember when we got those deals, only planned on buying a new gas cook stove, ours was super crappy. Saw one in front of either home depot or lowe's on super sale, we wanted it but DW said let's check it out online, pretty sure they have free delivery right now, ended up with a whole bunch of appliances, the stove plus the first two front loaders we got half price, dish washer half price, and a huge stainless Maytag double French door freezer on bottom fridge, $1,600 on sale for $700, way back when they had buy now zero interest zero payments if paid in full in one yr. Wouldn't have bought them otherwise, still way $$ for us. Things built like Fort Knox. Did have a problem with ice/frost build up once, read reviews on it, they spent $100s of $$ getting that fridge repaired. I tore it apart myself. Has humidity control , little tube pinched off, supposed to drip water/humidity, and evaporate, was a huge fly stuck in the rubber tube, problem solved!!! No probs after.
DW hates that fridge though, doesn't like stainless gets dirty quick when you have kids that have to put their dirty little hands on everything.
