The Old Folks Home

As a widow, I am having a hard time figuring out all the yard stuff. I finally broke down and bought a ride mower- Troy Built - and wow it made a difference. I can mow the entire yard in less than an hour. I figured out the weed wacker, but not the edger. Did great with the pruning saw, but now my crepe myrtles have scale.
I have put out weed and feed in the dog yard and front yard, but am afraid to put it in the chicken yard (where most of the weeds are). I have a problem with nutsedge, apparently, and am scared of killing off the three tendrils of grass left in that yard or killing the chickens.
Last year, I hired TruGreen to treat my lawn and trees- well, all I saw he did was spend 7 minutes a month putting potash on the lawn- for a high dollar. I paid over $200 to have him aerate the lawn- it took less than 15 minutes for him to do it (the time of arrival and departure are on the ticket). I figured I could do as much good and keep my money this year. Well, maybe not.
I had scale on an orange tree!

Clean up all the dead weeds and stuff abound the base of the tree and use dormant oil in the fall

You can do just as well as the yard maintenance service

My goodness you guys have been busy today, LOL.

SGC thanks for the pharmaceutical trivia pursuit! As for doctor's hand writing, I told my husband that they must teach a course in bad hand writing and he got an A. One day I had to take a chart into him and tell him to decipher it for me. And we're married for goodness sake!

My heart aches for all of you who have fought or those who are fighting cancer. Either personally or those with loved ones who are facing the fight of their lives.:hugs

Seems to be the case. Though ONE time I did see an MD with EXCELLENT handwriting. He was in front of me at the grocery store checkout and wrote a check. 99% of the writing population would be happy to write that nicely.
