The Old Folks Home

Happy Saturday everyone. @chickadoodles I am so sorry your DH is having so much trouble. I can well empathize with how he is feeling.

I hope he is taking something for pain and listening to the doctor and taking it easy. The latter has always been my big challenge.

No big plans for here today I need to work with the chicks and try to get them to cohabitate in the brooder pen which is in the hobby room right now due to the weather--it's a balmy and very un April like 16 degrees here at the moment--We've been working with them, holding them together and showing them the other pen. Yesterday I tried merging the two brooders and things went well for about 30 minutes. They even shared a piece of bread together. Then out of the blue one of the little SDW cockerels decided he was going to grab the neck feathers of one of the younger chick's and mount her. Those chicks are just 8 weeks old so lofty goals for a young bird and terrifying for one that is half that age. So out they came and back into the brooder they went.

I bought some 2X2s last week and have chicken wire on hand so I'll be building a devider to go in the grow out pen and get them cohabitating together since they are almost on room light now and the oldest have been on room light for awhile now. The room they are in is chilly so they have a heat lamp at night but the way the weather is, it's going to be awhile.

Do guineas fly out of brooder sooner that chicks? I can't picture them staying contained.
They would if they could. My brooders always have a top. The one they are in right now is a modified storage bin. Most of the top is cut out and covered with hardware cloth.

I have no idea! I have 13 right now. That tray has 30 eggs, the brinsea has guinea eggs due to hatch in about a week. And i have more than 30 in another tray. But you can't count your guineas before they hatch!
I bet you will have a lot less ticks at your place!

Dh went to the Dr yesterday. X-ray showed something wrong in his lower back. Dr. Said x-rays don't show the actual problem. But it's either a crushed or a bulging disk. He said he would ask for authorization for an MRI.
Dr. Said all his hardware is still in place in his neck. But again the X-ray don't show much.
We have to get the MRI before the can refer him to a specialist.
He's been in to much pain to do anything more on the kitchen.
And the Dr. Told him to leave it alone for now.

I asked my Ds#2 to come put my appliances back in the kitchen.
So I can do laundry and cook.
He said he'd be here this morning.
I hope he shows up!
It is good that they have figured out that there is a problem! Too bad that he has to go through more steps to see the specialist. I hope it moves quickly!

Having the appliances back together would be very helpful for you

:fl

Anyone else have fun weekend plans? Finished cleaning the house, only to look over and see a ton of shavings pushed back out onto the floor. Those kids are going to the basement as soon as possible.
I am also going to start my tomato and pepper and onion seedlings tomorrow. Maybe celery if I still have some seed.
