Happy Saturday everyone. @chickadoodles I am so sorry your DH is having so much trouble. I can well empathize with how he is feeling.
I hope he is taking something for pain and listening to the doctor and taking it easy. The latter has always been my big challenge.
No big plans for here today I need to work with the chicks and try to get them to cohabitate in the brooder pen which is in the hobby room right now due to the weather--it's a balmy and very un April like 16 degrees here at the moment--We've been working with them, holding them together and showing them the other pen. Yesterday I tried merging the two brooders and things went well for about 30 minutes. They even shared a piece of bread together. Then out of the blue one of the little SDW cockerels decided he was going to grab the neck feathers of one of the younger chick's and mount her. Those chicks are just 8 weeks old so lofty goals for a young bird and terrifying for one that is half that age. So out they came and back into the brooder they went.
I bought some 2X2s last week and have chicken wire on hand so I'll be building a devider to go in the grow out pen and get them cohabitating together since they are almost on room light now and the oldest have been on room light for awhile now. The room they are in is chilly so they have a heat lamp at night but the way the weather is, it's going to be awhile.
