The Old Folks Home

Just came in from outside so I'm trying to play catchup.

@chickadoodles, I'm so sorry to hear the bad news about your daughter. Adding my prayers to all the others offered up and also offer up prayers for you to be given the strength to see her through whatever lies ahead for her.

@perchie.girl, you are just evil, in a good way of course. Every time I feel the need to fart, I think of you now!:lau

Thanks for the recipe @ronott1. It is copied and saved!

@CapricornFarm, a trick a doctor once told me to cure the leg cramps from dehydration is to down a half a spoon full of salt substitute. Nasty stuff but it does work. It's pure potassium and gets into your system super fast.

I was raised on sauerkraut, my dad being Pennsylvania Duetch/German. Love the stuff. Of course my mom being from the south she would throw in ham hocks and have corn bread on the side. I wasn't overly fond of the pigs knuckles as they called them. Too fatty for my taste but I could make a meal off of the kraut and the cornbread.

I'm still working on cleaning the main coop. The youngsters go out this week I have two more hens I keep tossing off of empty nests telling them it's all in their heads. Two roosters with damaged eyes from spring sparing matches. Neither will see again out of those eyes. Both nice roosters. The bantam is in for a surprise. He is going to be one of the guardian roosters who teaches the young boys the ropes. The other is a pet, he is the one I helped out with an assisted hatching, almost died then fooled us all and survived. Hoping he is tough enough to see through this injury.

It is good to have nice roosters!

:lau Good luck to her on that!
No longer a problem, she died in 2003.

Put the rototiller attachment on my trimmer and mixed the alpaca poo in that I spread in the fall. DW planted the first row of spinach. Also reconnected all the pool filter stuff, tossed in a gallon of shock (need more), brushed it down (no longer clear) and turned the pump on. Hopefully it won't get too green before the season starts in June. The pond already has a lot of algae growing in it. Just not fair, it was frozen just a few days ago!
