The Old Folks Home

My DD#1 is in the hospital. Since last Thursday they found a mass on her kidney. They are going to do a biopsy today and a bone scan with dye.
They may take her kidney out.
Her liver has been having trouble since last year. He said she has a fatty liver.
She still has the neck and upper back fractures. They are not healing.

I'm sorry!!! Hoping for the best!!! :hugs:fl:hugs

that is postcard worthy! It also screams warm gentle spring.

My place today also screams spring...

The snow is melting .. even though the pond is frozen over most mornings, by noon the edges melt... and you can see grass..

So I have breeding pens set up.

I don't think chard is frost hardy though so I'll have to put it off till end of May.
I used to grow chard in New England and it would last right through the winter... I'd pick leaves off it and try my best to keep it from bolting. heavy snow would lay it down, but a few sunny days and it would come right back.

The home I lived in when raising my daughters, was backed up to a woods, then further back was an open area used as a pasture. My cats, and dogs had water, and feed buckets in the back yard. The cat's things were on the back porch. The feed buckets were set in shallow pans of water to keep the ants out of their food, and I normally kept plenty of feed in the buckets for them. Every year when it was time to wean her young ones, mama possum would come up, and let her babies eat some of the cat food.

One evening, I was looking out the sliders at the back yard, and thought to myself that it was strange that one of the smaller cat food buckets was upside down....what the heck...did that bucket just move? Yup, the bucket moved. I walked out, lifted the bucket, saw nothing under it, set it back down just like it was, and went inside to get feed. Maybe I just thought I saw it moving. I had the feed, and was about to open the slider to go out, and sure enough the bucket was moving around on the porch. Hmmmm, am I really seeing this? Yes. What the heck. I walked out, lifted the bucket, saw nothing under it, and set it back down once again, and walked back inside to watch. In a short time, the bucket started moving again. At this point, several thoughts are rushing through my mind as I'm trying to think of a logical answer. Am I cracking up, and imagining this? Nope. Is my porch haunted? It never has been before. Nope. Is the bucket haunted? Nope.

I walked out, lifted the bucket, and there was nothing under it. Impossible. I flipped the bucket over, and spread eagle, was a little possum wedged part way up. Every time I lifted the bucket, the little possum was clinging to the sides up inside the bucket, so I couldn't see it. It was scared. Now what? Had mama given up, and abandoned it? Was she nearby? I began talking softly to the little one, and listening. I heard a stirring in the nearby bushes. I set the bucket on it's side, where I heard the bushes rustling, and watched. Mama possum came out, the two were reunited, and they walked off across the yard into the woods, like nothing happened. I filled the buckets, and everything went on as normal. The next evening, mama brought her 2 to eat, just like always.
