The Old Folks Home

@ronott1, glad to hear that your mom is cleared for surgery. She's in for a stretch of hard work when it comes to PT but if she is determined, she will sail through it.

Crazy day. Got the chicklettes moved out. It meant breaking down their grow out cage and moving it to the big coop....which meant I had to take the door off the coop, move the grow out cage in, put it back together minus the laying boxes, screen over the opening to the nesting boxes, put the door back up and move the little ones in all the while under the watchful eye of a couple of hens and my coop rooster who all seemed to think they were no big deal which is the general attitude of the youngsters.

In the mean time, DH ran down to one of our Amish neighbors to buy new chains for his chain saws. As he went out the door I yelled after him to ask the sons if they wanted a job butchering some roosters as one of the boys butchers rabbits. He asked and then shrugged. They wouldn't say yes or no. Good Lord a mighty I just might be forced to run down the road after buggies and toss a rooster in the back in order to get rid of these little monsters.

I'm the same way with stores. I'll wander around and finally some youngster stocking shelves will ask me if I need help finding something...and call me ma'am :old:rant:thI tell them I'm not old and forgetful, I'm just forgetful!

Now I'm off to sweep pine chips off the hobby room floor.

Thanks! I think she will do fine with recovery :fl

Ron, glad everything is cleared for your mother. I hope it's smooth sailing for her, from here on out.

Took Dd #2 to her back surgeon's office today. She had spinal surgery last week. Her doctor was very pleased. She can drive now, and starts physical therapy tomorrow. YAY!

Thanks! What type of spinal surgery was it?

can't tell ya how many times I have just stood there in the grocery store thinking. Then someone asks if they can help me find something. I always have to say no thank you , I just know I needed to get more stuff, but I can't remember what. :old
It would have helped if i could find the list i made. Found it when i got home. Only bought half of what i needed. :p yeah, :old for sure.

I've always wanted to try elephant.
Got a recipe for elephant stew.

SERVES: 3500
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 medium elephant
  • 2 (50 gallon) containers broth
  • 500 lbs assorted fresh vegetables, chopped
  • 2 rabbits (optional)
DIRECTIONS
  1. Cut elephant into bite-size pieces.
  2. This takes about 2 months.
  3. Using large kettles, simmer equal parts elephant and vegetables with enough broth to cover.
  4. Cook for a couple days.
  5. If more are expected add the rabbits, but do this only if necessary.
  6. Most people don't like to find hare in their stew.

Took a couple of pictures today. Moving day:

The Silver Duck Wings are in the front and you can see two of the BBRs in the back that I hatched in the incubator. The other two BBRs are hiding in one of the nesting stalls.

Bottom pic is of Mr. Diesel who has made it clear to everybody that HE is the boss.

I have to admit that I kinda miss them being in the hobby room. I'm used to going out and making mamma hen sounds and them racing to see what treat offering I've brought for them.
