The Old Folks Home

Good news @ronott1! Keeping the prayers going that she has a speedy recovery without complication.

Urge her to take it easy and get plenty of rest old folks have a harder time shaking off the effects of anesthesia than younger people.

We were gone most of the day today. A friend was putting up a new antenna on his 50 foot tower and we had never seen an 'antenna monkey' at work before. It was fun to watch as long as we didn't have to climb it and he didn't fall so we'd have to do CPR or clean up the splat! The man that did the work has been climbing antenna towers for 41 years and was in his late 50s.

Couldn't pay me enough,LOL! Still got to see his two 2 darling day old doelings that his two does presented him with and the wether that he is trying to talk us into taking, plus got to talk chickens a bit as he is an enthusiast also as well as a HAM operator. All in all a nice, interesting day.

Plus I got rid of my surplus bantam cross roosters! Happy Dance Time!:weeOur neighbor is going to take them to butcher. My broody is due to hatch chicks any time past Monday so just in the nick of time. I'll be able to shuffle my breeding stock around now

I'm not even going to try to catch up with you guys. Hope everyone is well and the weather is good where you are. @CapricornFarm, how is that river doing?
Thanks! Mom is going to take it slow.

Didn't a TV antenna fall over in Missouri last week?...with people on it?

Yeah, I never did hear how it happened. I think one person was killed.

It only got a little 'I'm gonna close my eyes and let me know when it's over' nervous when the wind whipped up while the guy (owner of an antenna and tower company) was up at the top of the tower with two antennas that he was juggling around and antennas were swaying back and forth and it was like, I know the tower is secured in a concrete base but did I or didn't I just see it move....closing my eyes again....

my place today. Super clear why the duck got chilled, huh?

Silly duck.

Went to a dinner party on Saturday and somebody passed around a virus. I had a three-day incubation period (congestion that just got worse) and now DH, three days from my onset, is complaining of a scratchy throat.
I finished all my interior work on the Santa Fe house on Monday. Probably pushing myself didn't help my health any, but I'm glad it's done.
Not all whining, though. A high point was my first hatch of 4 Marans from my own flock. Stew the Roo is a daddy! (Love the little mukluks) Better yet, they're sold and going to a new home on Sunday. (So I guess I am a purveyor or chick pimp now...)

Well it started to recede a bit, but then it rained some more! So still high.
