The Old Folks Home

DH and I both got stung by angry bumblebees last year. Mine hit on the belly, a ways above the navel. It swelled up HUGE, like 6 inches across, and then had a big nasty red welt in the middle of it. It looked like I had a third boob.

They pass over our place when they leave Bosque del Apache. Hundreds of them circle in the sky making their noises. Sometimes they fly high and sometimes low. Always fun to try to spot where they are.
It sounds like your do react badly to stings!

I've been battling carpenter bees all day. HATE THOSE #@%#!@!! creatures! You wouldn't believe the holes they chew in the wood around here. I've been on forums where they say 'oh please don't hurt the carpenter bees! They are great pollinators!' I offered to box all ours up and send them to them, and in the mean time I went back to chasing them down with a can of wasp spray and my broom and beating the dirt out of them when I'm lucky enough to knock one out of the air.

I'm ready to put them all in a big box along with the wasps and ship them to Hawaii where they can throw them all in the erupting volcano to placate Pele but she'd probably just make the whole ring of fire light up!:lau
Hubby has a tennis racquet and a badminton racquet to swat them with. They love our log cabin. Hundred of dead trees and they have to drill holes in our house! Raid!

All this wasp talk reminded me of the wasp nest I encountered in my ole backhoe. And wasn't just the one, there was multiples.
Flashback Wednesday, 40,000 posts ago, lol :lau

How do you get rid of a hundred+ wasps? Burning won't work cause I don't want to lose my backhoe. Raid wasp spray is just pissing them off. I want to use the hoe NOW! not tomorrow. Took the tarp off and got stung several times before I knew what happened. Maybe I'll just take the kids fishing...

Pictures taken through window of van...

2 rolls of duct tape, 3 cans of Aqua Net hairspray, a zippo lighter, and a 12 pack will get them gone

Burn the tractor

Take a video

One can raid, no effect. Water hose for ten minutes, followed by shop vac connected to hollow aluminum roof rake pole, ghostbuster style, wasn't very effective. Hose for another ten minutes knock down nest with shovel. Hose some more while trying to start it. Soo glad the old thing starts quicker than a car.

Burn it anyway

It does a body good apparently
