The Old Folks Home

Is it the 4 feet wide one? If it is, it's good on surface area, depends on what kind of fish you are planning on stocking it with.. I used to use the under gravels too, on my 55 gals, they work great.. I think you're right about using the 60 for the 110; you can still find the under gravel filters, let me know if you have problems getting them.. Presently I'm using two filters in each tank, some two canisters or a canister and a hang-on-tank.. I never test, lol, tho I'm the first one to advise people to do so.. However, for those of us who've done this for a while, we can more or less tell when something is off, right?
Same foot print as a sixty bout four feet tall. Rule of thumb I was taught Aeons ago was to go as deep front to back as it is tall for good oxygen exchange.... But with the use of a bubble want that becomes moot.

Yeah we had a firemout pair breed in the store.... Fascinating to watch... shed lay her eggs on a rock after meticulously cleaning it... and he would come in and firtilize them They would guard and clean the eggs till they hatched them and as each fry came out she would scoop it up in her mouth. There they would live till her gills would stick out. She would spit 3em all out to eat and if something scared her or them they would all run back to momma...

For those who dont know they are considered Mouth Brooders.... Tilapia are also Mouth brooders and I so want to see my first batch of fry grow up.

California has certain restrictions on which Tilapia can be raised here.... I will have to dig it up.

I'm good, I've broken night many times.. I only get 4-5 hrs of sleep and I'm good.. Mayeb it's the Marine in me, but I believe if I go to sleep I'll miss something, lol.. Besides, sleeping is a waste of time, I believe :D:p:cool:

Wow, that's tall!! I see what you mean about surface area.. :hmm

So fascinating.. No matter how many times, and I've witnessed it many, many times, the excitement of watching a breeding pair mating and then the free swimming fry never wears off; the especially the firemouth gets such pretty breeding colors.. The mouth brooding is a wonder itself separate of the breeding.. Nature at it's very best and beauty..

Call the game and wild life dept., fisheries, etc., not only for Cal. but also the county.. I'm interested to know what restrictions they have.. Some states encourage the keeping and breeding of some game fish.. I have friends in PA that dug a large pond and the county stoked it with tilapia for them..

Chris.. over.. ;), your turn.. Don't fall asleep on me now :D:cool:
