SOP Black Australorp Breeders are hard to find. I recently confirmed that all the male offspring from my original rooster, are infertile. I ordered eggs from a breeder here on BYC.
I used a better light to candle the eggs. They're doing something in there, but hard to tell exactly. I did find one that was cracked, that I missed the short hairline crack. I cracked it open. It had stopped developing, but it had actually started, so I'm still hopeful. The veining is very thin in the shell, hardly visible, but inside where there was development, there was decent veining. Like I said, I'm going to continue with this hatch, and see.
It's sooooo different in to what I'm used to seeing with my own eggs. I can tell that in at least 2 of the eggs, the air cells are still not attached, but are still semi-decent in size. On several threads, people mentioned that even with detached air cells, as long as it's a decent size to provide adequate air for the developed chick, they can hatch like that. I'm still keeping the humidity down to 35%, to deter moisture getting into the egg, and decreasing the size of the air sac. Fingers still crossed, and a prayer on my lips.
