The Old Folks Home

and said that for getting my planned testing date moved up a month I might must ask for a pony for my birthday......and get it. He's no sport. He countered with 'Dear if you want a pony, I'll get you one!'
That just isn't fair! Took the power right away from you. Now you have to think of something different.

Bout time they loosened up and passed out badges to some well deserving members!

Congratulations everyone!

Yeah, a pony was about the top rung of my "ME WANT" goals. The Amish up around the bend from us have some of the cutest ponies that they stake out to do weed control for them along the roadside. I drove by them when the temps were in the 90s and they would be standing out in the sun. No shade. No water in sight. Two of them are little pintos that would just be darling hooked up to a pony cart. One boy was riding one of them down the road one day and DH asked him what the pony's name was. The response was 'he don't got a name' I immediately began calling the little pony Chico. DH has offered to ask the owner, Mose, if the pony is for sale and I just sigh. The last time I saw a pony I liked the kid riding it said 'he's for sale.' when I asked how much. He said 500 dollars broke to ride and pull.

When I bought my last horse I spent 150 for a yearling. Standard sized Appaloosa/quarter cross. Have prices really gone up that much for a pony or is that a realistic price one that is broke to ride and pull.....or was I just being gouged by a Yoder?

Micro prices out here for one broke to do anything is 2,000 and that is much older
horses ... I can recall when I had my first hoe sweet pinto stud he was like a big
puppy taught him to kneel for me to get up he was smooth Ma sold him when I was at college:hit

I know an Amish trained horse is pretty much bomb proof but 500 for a pony.....I told my husband maybe if they threw in a harness and beat up cart, yeah, 500 seems reasonable.

Your little pinto stud sounds like my App/Morgan cross. If I set down in her stall on the edge of the hay manger she would try to crawl into my lap. I'd take a book out to the corral when she was laying in the sun and sit down using her for a backrest and read while she dozed. I swear she was a big dog with hoofs.

She was my once in a lifetime horse. I paid 100$ for her as a yearling and miss her to this day.
