The Old Folks Home

@Sylv, she is a good mamma. It's so much fun to watch the babies try to figure out scrambled eggs.

@bruceha2000. Every one of my bantams looks like they took a turn in a feather plucker. The roosters are just pathetic looking. I tried pulling the extra roosters, they just escaped back into the main pen or beat up and pulled feathers out of one another. If I left them in the main pen they squabbled with one another or pulled feathers out of the hens in their zeal to mate them. Betty actually looks pretty good compared to the other girls and boys. She is starting to regrow head feathers. I treated them all with Ivermectin drops last month as I had seen a single louse on one of the hens. No bugs now. Just rowdy chickens. My standards sized girls and boys look great.

I even tried to put 'aprons' on the girls but the little nudists keep taking them off.:idunno

I can hardly wait for molt.....if I can even tell when it hits them the way they look now.

I've got some feather pickers as well. For some reason chickens don't like muffs and beards on other hens, including the Faverolles! I've seen her plucking the EEs. Every year after moult she and the EEs look great then slowly their muffs and beards disappear. Except Penelope, she's low in the order and runs from all the other adults and usually sleeps alone so she still has her black beard.

I'm not afraid of Friday the 13th.. :D

And it's my birthday to boot.. Got the beer on ice in the cooler and the 'Patron' in the freezer..;);)
