So sorry to hear about the horrible fire and loss of life. We don't nearly have that problem here but do have do deal with red flag warnings from time to time.
We just got home from a day on the road, bought groceries while in the 'big city', bought gas, oh fun!
Said good bye to Primo. I went out with scramble eggs and wet mash for him. Poor guy was gobbling and not able to swallow. It was sticking in his throat so I dug down into his hackle feathers and right under his wattles, encountered two huge masses that the feathers were hiding. I knew there had to be something more going on than the mouth tumor but was afraid to look further last night. He finally got the food down but it felt like he had two lymphomas, one on either side of his throat, high and clearly defined. I told him no more struggling, no more pain. Tres would take care of his girls for him. DH helped me bury him.
That's two in two days. Both roosters. Both well loved.
I need to go hug my bantams.
I'm sorry, Micro. I've always been fortunate in that all my birds have all died from old age over the years except for two to predators. Knock on wood. Thanks Al. Who doesn't like or need towels?

Oh my , those poor people! I never understood living in California. Real estate too expensive, too many taxes, too many regulations, not enough water, earthquakes, and fires. Besides everything there causes cancer! Leave me out of all that. There was not enough time with this fire. It was like a fire tornado--created its on weather kind of thing.
