Our zero turn cub cadet has not been running right since the season started.
Dh has put a tune up on it replaced the carb. and more just can't recall what all.
But he's done all he can think of and it spits and sputters and stops and black smoke comes out of the tail pipe. It was bogging down when he engaged the blades but that stopped when he put the new carb on it Sat. He said he will run it till it blows up and buy a kubota.
I just looked at some reviews and most of them are not very good. They even said their customer service just refers them to the dealer they bought from.
Some reviews are great! So I don't know what to think about them.

Thanks all... Ron, I was using a T-post puller almost exactly like the one you pictured, along with chain, and a steel T-post puller plate that slides down the T-post and you attach the chain to.

Micro... man... I have had tractor envy for years... ever since I first started desiring to "become a farmer"... Now, if I could afford one, I'd have one, and those T-posts would be shaking in their concrete soil at the thought of me pulling them with it! You talking about all you do with your tractor, and now Bruce has one as well, I just feel so depressed... and poor... don't forget poor...

I was both pounding in and removing them yesterday. I have more of both to do.

Sorry about the kiddo's car Chicka, Happy that he walked away from the accident sans serious injury. Hope your test results come back "no biggie" and easily remedied.

I did see some more powerful ones. Maybe rent one from US Rents?

Ugly ugly fires. I have no idea how they will get them out shy of serious rain or snow storms.

Maybe he should have someone that knows engines and Z turns work on it. Gotta be cheaper than buying a replacement unless there is something seriously wrong.

OK, I think it was here that we had a short discussion about refrigerators and the @#$% design that makes it impossible to clean the coils. Our refrigerator was getting a bit loud so I figured it was time to replace the fan with the missing blade. I've had it for a couple of years because I (oops) broke one off when I had to clean out the freezer drain thing. I ordered the replacement drain thing (because Whirlpool figured out their "duckbill" design clogged too much) and the fan. Figured I would replace both when the drain clogged up again. Well it never has and the fan has been fine minus the one blade. When I took it out today there was crude on the rest of the blades, probably unbalancing it even more. Sounds fine with the new fan.

Anyway, can you see why it is totally impossible to clean the coils under the machine?
Before cleaning best I could. Yes, we do have cats, why do you ask?


And after cleaning. Those "rods" are maybe 1/8" apart. No way to get a brush in there. Plus, as you can see in the first picture, the frame in the front of the machine makes it impossible to get very close in anyway.

The coils under my fridge are similar but you can get a brush in between them.

What a terrible design!

Well Bruce, they knew you were getting a tractor with forks. You simply lift it up with the forks and work from underneath it... What happened to that old Yankee ingenuity?

Now for the "best tractor" debate...

Over the years, I've had many discussions over which (domestic) pick up brand is best/better. Nowadays, really, it makes little difference. Each has good and bad and they are all just about equal. You can pay more for a GMC or less for a Chevy, they are exactly the same except for branding. Fords and Dodge are both their equals when it comes down to it. I'd LOVE to have a pickup with the Dodge Cummins diesel coupled to the GM Allison transmission. Can't happen because of "deals" and contracts.

Kinda like politicians... They have to cover all bases so they always support some things you support, but are against other things. You can't find one that agrees with you 100%. So they say they are pro rights and support a woman's right to abortion (actually not a "right" but a legislated "permission") yet they don't support the 2nd amendment (which IS a right) and are anti gun... Not trying to start any fights here... Simply used as an example for illustrative purposes.

Kubota and the big green tractor company; John Deere, both have their loyal followers. Both IMHO are well overpriced simply because of their names. Tractors are a semi-common discussion over on the BYH site. An older gent over there worked for Kubota for many years and has stated he wouldn't buy one. A woman over there has a hubby that works on tractors and recommended against a Deere. Most of their parts are
"theirs" so can't be replaced with aftermarket or alternate brands/types, therefore making repairs extremely expensive. You can only use their parts...

I would do a bit of research before making that large investment. I'm a fan of Branson.
