Yes, and why can't they self lower themselves so battery changes don't require toppling off a step ladder? Actually I know better than to even try. Standing on a chair just about gives me nose bleeds. I do not like heights and after we reach a certain age, it's better to ask a young person to change them.

Morning all. Working on second cup of liquid sunshine, aka coffee. Hope everyone is doing well this morning. Lots of sun here but no rain till tomorrow night. We are so dry it's pathetic. The grass crunches when you walk on it and everything is drooping leaves covered with dust.

@Cynthia12, storm warnings like that are usually SOP here in Missouri, especially in the early spring. We don't start getting nervous until a tornado warning pops up and we look at the on line radar to see exactly where the storm is heading.

Plans for today. Finishing touches on new brooder. Hoping to get chicks moved tomorrow after paint has a chance to cure for 24 hours.

Hello, Old Folks! Thought I'd check out the Home, and see some familiar names. Is there room for one more resident?

Storm?? What storm?? The winds came, but not nearly as bad as what we thought was coming. It was way worse yesterday. Thankful it wasn't bad though! False alarm.

That is good news!

I have noticed that the weather alerts can be over done. I guess they want to err on the side of safety in case it is worse then predicted.

I was seriously trying to sleep last night and then the smoke detector started making beeping noises. Hubby was still awake, so he showed up and fixed it. Why can't they let u know they need a new battery during daylight hours instead of 1 am?

Because batteries have less of a charge when it is cold...It just seems like they are out to ruin our sleep...

My brother in law beat up my smoke alarm years ago, it kept shrieking. He got on a chair, yanked the batteries out and it was still shrieking. He got a hammer and smashed it silly. It was still shrieking. That's when my niece noticed it was the C0 detector on the wall that was making all the noise.

It was very reachable, changed the batts and it was fine. BIL never offered to replace the smoke alarm he murdered.Somehow I forgot my manners and never thanked him for that.
