The Old Folks Home

We can't get ATT out here. The only 'wired' phone available is through Mark Twain Communications which handles a lot of the areas rural phone. We called around early on and were told by all the majors with the exception of Verizon and US cellular that we are so fringe where we live inspite of being able to see two distant towers that they couldn't guarantee us service. US Cellular was a joke. It would drop call like fall leaves. Verizon is a touch better but is still a pain in the pa-toot.

Just came in from outside. Had to put up a new sun shade for the birds as we have had high winds here for the past two days and the old one got shredded. Stopped by the orchard on the way back and discovered that something, probably with four hooves and antlers, age every freaking peach off of very tree we have in the yard.:hitI have been checking them every other day and the last check they were just starting to have a little give to them. These are the wild variety of peach. Small as apricots but very sweet and make great jam which was what I was planning to do to them this year.:rant

Oh well, less work I have to do except to go out and gather pits to plant for next year's trees.
That is what always happened to our peaches in TN. The peach tree i planted here died already.:(

Check with other companies, and see who has the closest tower. The newer smart phones have the option of connecting through your wifi too. I have mine set to do both. When set for both, I can walk around the house when on a phone call, and I don't get dead spots that disconnect the calls.

Verizon's is the closest but the trees are in the way.
Dh has Southernlinc but I don't like their phones and they limit your calls to 600 minutes.
That's what ATT used to do and I hated that! Straight talk gave me service here for many years so I will likely go back with them. I don't know why they can and Verizon can't due to the fact that they use Verizon's towers. lol But they can.

Cap, I can send you some more pits for fall planting. God knows I have several hundred of them at the moment. Going out later to gather them off the ground. I had 7 out of about 100 pits germinate this spring. Winter really was hard on them but the best tree is by the chicken pen and is about three foot tall now.

I am sorry that you did not get peaches!

Can you protect the trees?

It's a day of poultry miracles.

Cap found her bird, and my turkey is... wait for it... OUT OF THE NEST BOX.

Oh, but it's a chick.

And if we thought Nest Box Turkey was terrifying, Angry Loose Turkey Mom is infinitely more scary.

She's spending the night outside because not even a 2x4 could save me.

I'll be Tom Bodet, though, but she's on her own, otherwise.

:th

Tom Bidet, ain't he the guy in the commercial that says he'll leave the light on for you?

Penny that is how I ended up with Verizon - started with Century Tel, which was bought by Alltel, which was bought out by Verizon. I have had a cell phone since 1995. Actually longer as I had one at work prior to that.

Our house phone we do not use at all we have a outfit here called Telecom they partner with Dish satellite TV pay 132.. a month the two is the house phone go figure
