The Old Folks Home

I kind of feel like the Prodigal Poster. Sorry about that. Cannot even say I've been lurking all that much. I burned through two computers (crash, burn) and hadn't had a chance to set up the new one until recently. Been away for too long, but -- DANG! -- I've been swamped with projects that beget projects and yet more projects lined up on the runway to take off. And that was without running a farm! It has been a conspicuous year for fruit and none of my peach trees were coordinated with one another to be doing the same thing at the same time, so it was an endless cycle of beating at least a ton of green fruit out of the trees, harvesting ripe fruit, and processing. Now we're deep into the peppers. Never thought I'd say that I'm looking forward to the dead of winter.
The interior of the remodel/rehab up in Santa Fe is almost done. Discovered that the laundry closet is a squitch too narrow, so having to reconfigure shelves and whatnot for a stacked machine as I'm not wanting to widen a doorjamb and get new doors. At least with the stacked ones I can also find storage for the vacuum cleaner therein. Still have some exterior work to do, but not a high priority at present.
Waiting to see what the blue-feathered olive eggers will produce in egg color. The girls are pinkening up, so perhaps something before first frost.
Health-wise doing well (although I'm sure at my physical next week the docs will give the same refrain of diet-and-exercise), despite the knees dictating one day on/one day off and my schedule dictating otherwise. (Thank you naproxen and CBD salves!) Did DNA testing and fairly clear of all maladies EXCEPT it looks like the variants dictate macular degeneration in my future. (Better do all my sightseeing now, eh?) Funny, I scored REALLY high on Neanderthal genes. (Insert joke here)

Anyway, I've missed y'all!
We missed you too!

But busy is good. So, rah, rah

Welcome back peep most of us still here and kicking did you get all the fruit processed?
Canned a lot (halves, jams and sauces), gave away a lot (friends, neighbors, senior center), and -- recently bought a freezer -- froze a lot of them all pitted and smushed for smoothies. Seriously, in dealing with offing them, peaches became the new zucchini.

I still have some vertigo from Labor Day 2017. Nowhere near as badly but, when I lay back on the bed, I get some. Or If I switch sides I am laying on. OR if I look high up trying to see stuff on grocery shelves. Apparently other places do that too to penalize height challenged folks. The shorter you are the higher they put what you need.

Of course no workers come by when I am jumping up and down trying to reach something. But the other customers enjoy my antics.

Hi Peeps!:frow

Isn't it amazing how life can get in the way sometimes?

As for the drops, I asked the same thing right before he checked my eye pressure. Clean out. Gotta order some. I had to cowgirl up and deep breathe my way through it.

Road trip to WA.........man that would be one heck of a trip from Missouri!

It's sunny and HOT here today so I'm inside. Painted my enamel and wood kitchen 'island' chairs. The big news for me is that I've been checking my big birds out one at a time and so far they look like they are all gaining a bit of weight. I pulled a rooster from the pen that was young and rammy and they all seemed to perk up a lot. Guess they didn't like him. My last Buff O/Welly rooster is 28 months now as is my little Welly boy. The girls seem to like those two boys. I was hoping the younger rooster would work out with them but guess not. It would be nice if I didn't have to cull anymore at this moment in time.
