The Old Folks Home

Depending on the waves of course, you don't mess around with Mother Nature up here on the Big Waters
That is for sure, really no different than being out on the open ocean.

I was considering going to a flea market to get rid of some birds, but its an hour drive each way and have to be there at 6 am.
Great way to limit the people coming to sell at the market. I can see they don't want people wandering in at all hours of the day but a 6 AM cutoff it ridiculous.

Excitement for the weekend. Um, well we went to the Farmer's Market then to Wally World where they SUPPOSEDLY had 6" cake pans in stock. Not only did they not have them, I didn't see anywhere they would have them but were out.

Going to continue working on the top for the cordwood storage/transportation racks for when one is on the porch landing at the house for pulling wood as needed without having to re-stack it in the porch. I've finished 3 racks, have the 2x4 parts of the base cut for a fourth but still need to "de-nail, de-screw" and cut all the 1x4 pieces then assemble. I have some wood to split but not enough to fill 1 rack, each holds about 1 run.

Yep, real exciting plans!

We went to get get our hair cut. Back home watching Alabama football. Hope to go to Walmart for a few things tomorrow.
It has rained on us all week. I had a couple cantaloupes getting ripe and one split open.
I don't know about the watermelon yet. It's to wet to get out there.
Just cut hubby's hair, shortest cut ever.:sick He asked for it.:gig

I have to admit when I met the cop right before heading to the camper I was so scared I was whole body shivering. And my belly fat was jiggling so hard. Weirdest feeling! I wasn't sure what I was going to find, but I did know if she was still alive and I came with the cops that it wouldn't be a good outcome, so I had to go in there alone. The cop was pulled around right around the corner just in case.

I was supposed to call last night and get an update, but fell asleep right after I put all the birds to bed at dark.

I'll call this morning and get an update and try not to get too angry when they still don't have answers or have answers I don't want to hear.
:hugs:hugs:hugs

I know ya'll are smart folks, but for anyone in the market for a used vehicle any time soon, two words - flood cars. They'll be around; maybe a long ways away from here.

While on the subject of despicable people . . . .

Situation: 90-some-year-old lady that my husband knows and her son evacuated for Florence (not sure to where, it's not important). They just got back, hadn't even had time to unload the car, and these guys from a tree company are in their faces, demanding money. She'd had a tree go down on her property, and apparently the HOA had gotten these guys to remove it. They insisted that they had to be paid now, but finally left when the son informed them he didn't even have any checks at the house; they could just send a bill, and get paid in due course. This morning, the old lady woke up to find that someone had dumped a large truckful of pine tree debris across her driveway. I know they always warn about the fly-by-night shysters that descend after any disaster, but these guys are supposed to be a local company!
All I have to say is, :rant

On the banks of the river today.

The paw paws are ripe, i picked some while driving on the mule today. No need to even get out.
Um, what's a paw paw, and what does one do with them?
@Bunnylady, I agree a letter to the editor of the local paper with a picture of the lady (looking particularly vulnerable) crying over the pile of debris.
I love the way you think, Sour.

I agree. Call the local news stations, if you have to call the nationals. Make em squeal like the dirty pigs they are. Sorry but I am rabidly protective of the elderly!
We have to be. Our society as a whole is not.
Anyone have fun weekend plans?
Helping DH. Soybeans are ready and he's combining.

Finished my quilt, took the bag off the tombstone from last weekend, then made some spaghetti squash stuffed with italian sausage, roasted tomatoes, kale and pak choi.

Also went out to bf's sisters camper this morning to get some of her clothes. Got into an altercation with her incredibly trashy and nasty landlord that was kinda scary. Good thing I can deescalate situations...
