The Old Folks Home

Sorta like radishes but without the heat. Pretty tasty, crunchy, and non fibrous. I didn't know they were edible till I googled how to save the seeds and it popped up a bunch of recipes. The seeds are not hard yet, like a crunchy little pod sorta like sugar snap peas with a radish taste.
Sounds good!

Couple people use dachshunds for deer recovery here. Have to have a licence to do it. Track wounded deer/bear, pay them to find them, use dachshunds Lol!!
We only had to do that once...

When my baby sister shot her first deer, it didn't drop until after it got into the brush.

We just got our mutt ranch dog, Heinz 59 special he was. His name was Dog. My dad and sis went back to the house, brought him to the field where she had shot the deer, and told him to find the deer. I had come too... and watched. He was great, did a couple of circles where the deer was shot, and then showed us where the deer was.

My baby sis hadn't shot bad, the deer barely went far, less than 50 feet I think, before it died. It is just the brush was so think, 50 feet was far enough for it to disappear.

Dog was pretty good at his main 2 jobs. Barking only when there was trouble or people were driving up to the house, and keeping the yard free of snakes.

Don't laugh my best duck dog was a standard poodle named Missy
pure white one heck of a duck dog.
Time for this ol lady to turn in goodnight everyone be safe
Originally poodles were hunting dogs and all round farm dogs.... smart and quick they did some amazing things....

Even a team of standard poodles finished the Iditerod.... ...

my ONLY problem with them in this climate is their coats.... and burrs and cactus......

Good morning, Old Folks.

If you film the Dachshunds you have to Film the Bassets hunting Rabbits.... :ya

Well of course I will not be filming and posting, but the bassets for the most part are a lot more accomplished than the dachshunds. Some lost interest fairly rapidly, but others are quite capable.

Got up early and got most of the front veggie gardens cleaned out in preparation for winter. Still need to do the flower beds but I usually wait a bit longer until they die back.

I have a date today with the dowser at the graveyard I found a few weeks ago that had been smashed to hell. Hoping he can get things figured out so I can determine if it's worth working on next summer.

The weird hair cut that you see on 'show' poodles reflects back on their primary talent as water dogs. They would leave these balls of hair on the leg joints to protect them from the cold in the water and out. They are by nature very athletic dogs. Humans have just turned them into pampered couch potatoes.

Here Mountain Cur are valued as there are so many raccoons, fox and the like that hunters like to go after. Beagles also for the same reason along with Coon Hounds. We think our dog Buck is half Walker Coon Hound and he is just a great all round dog.

Another gray day here in Missouri. Wish it would make up it's mind. Rain or Sun, take your pick. Gray just makes me gloomy. So many projects here though that I'll be busy well into November. I need to clean out the coops but want to wait till I'm done worming. I have 4 more days on half dose Corid. Did 7 of full strength/heavy outbreak. Plan to do 5 on smaller dose. Wait a week and then worm them with Safeguard. Figured I would clean after finishing the Safeguard.

The temps are good though ranging in the upper 70s for the next few days and all the way to 85 on Wednesday so we will probably be out hacking away at that log. I'll have to remember to take pictures.

Y'all have a great Sunday.
