Totally agree on the talent, there. I did a few a couple years ago, then I stabbed myself with a knife (have the scar to prove it) and then decided that pumpkins were for eating.

Mom, dad and babies. Pretty sure it was the daddy that got me the scar.

Wow! Haven't carved a pumpkin in years. I'm pretty sure I would get a mom, dad, and baby scar, from each.
 
I'm a member of that club also. When I was 30 I tried to carve a pumpkin. The knife slipped and I wound up with 7 sutures in my finger. ER doc laughed and said they regularly got Turkey Toes where the frozen turkey fell out of the freezer and smashed a person's big toe flat but they had never had a Pumpkin Finger before.

Didn't dampen my love of carving pumpkins. We don't get trick or treaters out here. Kind of goes against the Amish 'life shall not be fun' belief....that and the old devil VS Halloween thing. Kinda feel sorry for the kids though. They really don't have much fun at least by our standards.

I carved my first pumpkin by myself at about 5 years of age. With a butcher knife. Not sure where the babysitter was. At least i didn't hurt myself.
