The Old Folks Home

Alaskan! You should have a car with a working driver's side door! Can't one of the voles fix it?
Ha! I asked Vole number 3....

But the top hinge is rusted out so much that there isn't enough solid metal to reweld it. Figuring out how to splice in metal, reframe the door frame... is past his ability.

Many years ago we had an old car it had one quirk, when you made a left turn the driver's door would fly open - NO joke. Somehow my father thought we could all go to Wisconsin Dells for an overnight trip. Getting there he was trying to drive with his hand on the door handle to keep it closed. A sharp turn, door opened and almost took his arm/shoulder with it.

I don't know how he managed to get us home. We had 5 in the car plus one dog we couldn't afford to board. Walking the dog later he found something delicious to roll in and did so vigorously. He and car stunk all the way home. We had one of those trips that are unforgettable. We didn't need a camera to recall the events - still can't forget them.

some good rope would do... for a hinge punch a hole through the door....and fasten it on the inside
