My mom's power went out one year just before Christmas due to an ice storm. After we did not hear from her for 2 days (she refused to use a cell phone) we called the cops to make a wellness check. She seemed surprised that we were worried

I'm the one that makes the calls to check on folks (despite hating phones). They think phone silence is normal. Okay with me. Though my son does call and ask about a week later.

I knew my kid didn't.... and was probably fine..... so I wasn't worried.

We are likely cutting our tree down today with bfs mom and the rest of that family. They've never cut one down before, always had artificial, whereas I have never not cut one down. They're looking forward to the experience. Hope I don't have to sing carols and act jolly.

LLB opened a store not terribly far from me, so maybe I'll get to return something without paying 6.95 for return shp. If it comes to pass I'll have a few extra bucks, always great at this time of year.

No plans here. Just the same old same old. We had rain overnight and actually heard a clap of thunder at one point. Strange with snow on the ground but y'all know what happens when rain hits snow. The resulting quagmire is impressive.
