I have bought vaccines from livestock supply places before like MFA here in MO. There is an online place I buy from, valleyvet.com that we used to buy our sheep supplies from. Gotta be careful that they pack it in dry ice or cold packs. If I buy from TSC or Orscheln's, I take a cooler packed with ice to transport. Haven't had problems to date.

Be aware if you plan to board your pet you will have to have a vet certified form to prove vaccination which means you are back to square one....going to the vet for vaccinations.

The problem with mail order and pet supply store vaccines is with the chain of handling. At any point an uninformed employee, or one trying to avoid getting in trouble, could stick vaccine that had been allowed to warm to room temp back in the fridge, inactivating it. And no one would know.

Absolute truth in the case of modified live vaccines.

We used to give the shots except for rabies. Dogs were very good about. Wouldn't have the courage to try doing it to cats.

My cats were very good about it. Made more fuss about getting toenails done.

Tried that once with a cat that had a bad tooth! Little finger still bears the scar! Even cat burritos are worthy of respect!

Got that right!
Step 1, grab the cat without getting your face ripped off.
Step 2, try to wrap the amazingly agile cat in a towel without getting your face ripped off
Step 3, apply antiseptic to most of your face

I've been avoiding them, other than state mandated rabies, for the cats since they never go outside. Had to fork over when Christofur get neutered, won't let them stay in the hospital without all the vaccines. And now Rascal has a hyperthyroid condition. Seems the cheapest long term solution is to get her irradiated since the concept of trying to pill that cat would result in the "cat burrito" scenario above. So she will have to stay in the hospital for a number of days and will have to get vaccinated.

I've wanted to use it for other cooking but don't want to mess it up so it's been the only thing I use it for lol.
Pretty funny, mentioned to a guy at work I'd like to get the enameled cast iron pans, non-stick, he didn't understand. Yeah sure I said cast iron is non-stick most the time if used/cleaned right, but occasionally sticks ( not a biggie cause you can scrape the good crispies out). He just thought it was a awful idea because cooking in real cast iron is where we get our iron from before they invented iron pills....
I didn't know this... I told him I like liver so no big deal.

Funnier yet, I thought he was nuts, had to google it before posting this, he was right... I guess cooking in cast iron does add iron to your diet , 'old' crazy people...

Other than rabies shots, I have not had an animal vaccinated by a veterinarian - ever. Vaccine is readily available from supply houses or farm stores at a great saving.

Same here, and save tons of $$

I used to put crazy cats in those mesh laundry bags to wash them, and tie it around their neck. Works pretty well.

I have heard it both ways, we get iron from cast iron and that the iron molecules from cast iron are too big for us to use.

I just like using cast iron!
