The Old Folks Home

OK, you know how I ask if anyone has fun weekend plans?

Does anyone have fun weekend plans? Interesting?

I don't have fun or interesting plans this weekend (in fact, I'm hoping to start quilting a quilt that should have been done before now, but I digress), but I *DO* have interesting plans for the following weekend and I am absolutely certain that I will win the interesting plans award (note: there is no award) for that weekend.

This weekend:
Finish putting away Christmas stuff  (had late Christmas this past weekend with family that couldn't be here earlier)
Prep coop for me not being here during ridiculously cold weather
Practice my Spanish lessons
Church
Laundry
Maybe watch some NFL playoff games if I want to spend any time with DH , or pack if I don't :D

Next weekend:
Spending time where "the stars at night are big and bright".

Well, I have feather eaters  I have 5 chickens; 2 BOs and 3 RIRs. My 2 BO's have decided that the back feathers and fresh chicken meat off the bone is better than pellets. This morning I found one of my RIRs with the entire base of her spine opened up and eaten out down to the bone and a 2nd RIR with feathers missing in that general area and irritated skin, but not broken yet.

I separated out the first to a dog crate with food and water, dosed the area with Vetericyn and Blukote, and hope she'll heal. I then blukoted the other heavily. This evening I went out and the 1 remaining RIR has had her back stripped bare 1/2 way up. Thankfully, no broken skin and she has now been heavily blukoted. Depending on what goes down overnight and what I find in the morning, I may be down to 3 chickens. Maybe less if they do velociraptor overnight.

Just bought a new 50 lb bag of feed or I'd do away with the bunch of them. :(
