The Old Folks Home

We've got about 8 inches of snow so far, which is really fun over the inches of ice. BF fell last night trying to get Ripley unstuck off a rock (she's the queen of getting her lead stuck, especially on Jay Leno Rock), he's okay thankfully, just sore.

I'm wondering how bad the roads are, although I'll find out soon enough. No plows have gone by (or Ripley suddenly started sleeping through the Evil Snow Plow Invasions).

We're getting a lot of snow. I'm with Diva..easier to walk on the snow. We've had some freeze..so, couldn't keep up with the ice for a while. Now we're in for more moisture. Looks like a lot of rain. In Feb? I have tulips coming up. :) I'm dropping these off on my favorite threads. Give lots of hugs tommorow!

Morning everyone. Well, the weather here like in a lot of places is just plain crap. Last year the birds were pinned up a grand total of two days. This year they have been out a total of two days in two months. I think our weather is trying to mimic @superchemicalgirl's weather with layers upon layers of ice followed by snow. You take walking safety into your own hands.

This is the view off of our deck. The sun wasn't cooperating with me so the ice on the trees looks a bit dull.

This is looking to the west and towards my coop. You can see my wagon wheels where they broke through the ice and the net covering the run is pretty amazing in that it is supporting all that ice without tearing. I bought deer fence this year and it's been the most durable netting I've found so far.

Thank goodness we don't have the long drive that SGC has but ours is bad enough. On the other side of the road is a deep ravine so if you should happen to miss the turn at the base of the drive it's a long way down. The most traffic we have seen on our drive is our tracks mincing our way down to the mail box and trash dumpster. No trash pick up here in over a month.

Today they are calling for a melt with temps in the 40s but more snow tomorrow and Sunday.

I am SOOOOO ready for spring.

SGC, hope BF is okay. Falling on ice is just plain hazzardous to your health and wellbeing.

Sorry to hear about BF's fall, SCG. It may not be quite as dangerous as for older folk, but falling on ice is no fun.

In the spirit of "it's an ill wind that blows nobody good," the inclement weather may be contributing to a fall in crime (pun intended). I saw a news story out of Maine about a guy that held up a bank with a BB gun yesterday, leaving with a certain amount of cash. As he fled on foot, he slipped on ice and fell, dropping the money and the gun. As luck would have it, he fell practically at the feet of a Maine State Police Special Agent, who, realizing the implications of a running person, money, and a gun, wasted no time in apprehending the suspect.
