The Old Folks Home

Yeah Diva, that's it. Her head is so filled with important things, so loading, and turning on a dishwasher won't fit into her brain. Funny, the use of the floor scrubber eludes her too.
Bet she is a wiz on her smartphone.

Oldest son took it upon himself to do laundry one night when he was in 6th grade. He did great!
I used to do laundry. Then I put a flannel nightgown and oops a cashmere sweater in the dryer. I claim no fault on the nightgown, it said tumble dry low. How was I supposed to know DW didn't put it in the dryer. The sweater? Dunno, maybe I just assumed everything in the washer was tumble dry low since the nightgown was. Now I am allowed to wash my white socks.

I always liked the Erma Bombeck line of thought. If a person comes to your door unannounced to visit, they deserve whatever mess they walk into.
Works here. The place is a sty. But even given a week's warning, it would still be a sty. When my stepsister and her husband came by for a couple of days last summer I told her "Imagine the worst, it will be better than what you see when you get here".

I had a late afternoon doctor's appointment. I have a minor upper respiratory infection, and bronchitis. He put me on antibiotics, a decongestant, and prednisone. When I got the prednisone, I laughed. It's 20mg. No way am I taking that much prednisone this late. I wouldn't sleep for a week. I have a bottle of 5 mg., and a bottle of 10 mg. I started with 5mg. Maybe tomorrow when I wake up, I'll take the 20mg, but not tonight.
Hope you feel better soon!

This both cracks me up and makes me want to go there. I always loved Ron's house from Harry Potter, and I get that you have a similar vibe.
Here it's just too difficult to keep a house looking somewhat clean with 3 cats and an enormous dog inside (as well as often livestock in some kind of hospital situation), plus work all day. I could clean the rest of my free time or I could keep it to a dull roar and then go enjoy myself. Toilets are clean (even if they do run!), sheets and towels changed at least once a week, Roomba runs at least once daily (best invention, ever) and the rest gets done when it gets done.

:highfive: that sounds a lot like my philosophy ... but I need a Roomba!

Love my Roomba! Entertaining, too. It's like watching a little drunk robot. Perfect machine for us EXCEPT that it regularly chokes out if it ventures under the bed or sofa and, of course, it sends out a distress cry from unreachable spot, so then it's a major extraction. We since have gotten those little sentry towers that emit an invisible beam that the Roomba avoids. Now we primarily let it roam free in the kitchen and den/dining area.
My sister -- forever engaged in sibling rivalry that's purely one-sided (and someday I relate more of that) -- got the newer model that she can activate from her Smartphone so that it's just finishing up its rounds and parking itself as she's getting home.

Our house would kill a Rumba in about 30 minutes. Being down to 2 dogs in the house and them being short coat dogs helps but 5 cats? I can vacuum (even though we have plank vinyl down) sweep and then dust mop the floors, turn around and have a new dust bunny following me around the house. A Rumba would immediately choke up on us. In the winter we have wood debris and dust to deal with, in the spring, mud, then dirt until the grass and undergrowth come up and control the dirt, finally fall when the weeds go to seed and the dogs carry the seeds in on their coats.

Woke up to the sound of thunder rumbling and rain pounding on the windows :celebrateMusic to my ears. Still raining hard but it isn't snow and the temps are near 50 today so maybe spring is finally trying to break winter's hold on us and push it out! Even the mud is welcomed at this point in time.

Don't forget to spring ahead before you go to bed tonight....if you are in a time change area. Wish we were but ya gotta do what you gotta do.
