The Old Folks Home

Yesterday was 80 and sunny. Today is 50 and thunderstorms. Our greyhound Norman -- f/k/a/ TNJ Blackstorm and nicknamed "Stormy" by his previous owners -- is a big thunder wuss: Tremors, drool puddle, eyes like saucers, stuck like velcro.

Funny!

Do you have a thunder vest for him?

My sister and her adult daughter have had thunder shirts for every dog they have owned.
I had a kennel full of Cockers and they didn't need it. July 4th. was another story because the neighbors start letting off fire crackers long before the holiday and long after. Plus many times for no reason. THAT did scare them but, I would go into the kennel - play a radio and wash the floors. That usually put them to sleep. The good kind of sleep NOT the permanent kind.

Hubby doesn't want me buying a little bitty Papillon pup.:hit
Just tell him about our 5 rescue pups and how cattle dogs eat sofas. Should soften him up about a tiny papillon puppy!

Got all 5 answering to their names. Went through two hotdogs and a slice of turkey lunchmeat. Just hope they retain the knowledge.

Spot, the Jack Russell/Border Collie cross is softening towards them. She chastised one today that got a little rammy with her and then all was forgiven. Buck is just terrified of them. I mean, the dog weighs 55 pounds and 5 puppies turn him into a bowl of guava jelly? He either hides on the sofa with his head stuffed behind pillows or stands with his front feet against the storm door begging to be let out. Guess he figures that if his head is safe his whole body is.

Didn't get anything planted today. Was hoping to. Just ran out of steam. Friday for sure. Tomorrow night is supposed to be chilly and it's supposed to be down to 38 Friday night. May plant the started squash and cover them with milk jugs. Tomatoes also. We also got a tractor bucket load of wood to the barn.

Penny, May 6 must seem like forever I know how time dragged by when I was waiting to get my partial when I had it fixed.

Ok DH and I are still laughing 4 boys 1 girl, right.

Wrong.

We were teaching names tonight and I realized one of the boys was ummmm missing some vital male plumbing. I've been checking the boys for the family jewels descending and woops.

He didn't believe me I told him to look for himself. He held the pup up, looked and we had a good laugh We now have a girl named Ox.

In the chaos of the past week we must have counted one of the boys twice.

DH asked me how the vet not to mention we manage that oversight.

I'm speechless for once:confused::idunno:eek:

Does anyone nearby have Paps? Would they trade for quail, chickens, guineas, bunnies?

Well nobody ever bought me a dog either, and I did quite well myself. Paid $ 150 for a 3 1/2mos. old Cocker pup.Breeder felt he was too small to amount to anything. Luckily I bought him and never thought too small was any kind of handicap. Finished his championship and sired 20 chs. as well. He was the light of my life till he passed away.
Still miss him deeply.

PS had several placings in the group because he could MOVE!!!!on a loose lead. He was a thrill to watch, as was first son (ch.# 1 and his brother ch.# 2)
